I enjoyed this whole series tremendously! It captures all the great feelings of the classic King's/Space/Police Quest games but without the (occasionally) frustrating puzzles or 'walking dead' situations. The graphics are lovely, music is nice, and the options to have CRT emulated scanlines is very cute. I heartily endorse this for point and click fans old and new!
This is a great conclusion to the series. I love how each episode overlaps a bit with the previous while expanding the area and twisting how items are used. It makes everything feel very well thought out. I wish that there was a command to PAY RESPECTS in the final scene.
The final chapter in the Snail Trek saga is as good as previous entries, you're once again in control of the remaining snails as they're about to save the rest of snail civilization from being eaten by the evil aliens. It's a good conclusion, and I truly enjoyed playing through the whole series. Can't wait to play the upcoming games from the developer!
The end of the story. Very dramatic and serious.
Great game, though the ending took an unexpected dark turn. Not sure why the creator wanted to kill off his own series, especiall with all the setup in the previous 3 for a peaceful resolution... Still this has been a fantastic ride and I highly recomend it. The multi-platform text parser engine he created fir this game could be a thing to sell by itself, I know I'd buy it. :P
Great final chapter, more in depth puzzling than the rest, and a lovely ending! I really want to see more like this, I'd love to see a more serious tone in future work, since the sillyness of the premise undermines the potential impact I think. The tone in another of Phil's games "the void" is so great, I'd love to see more of that I think it fits the style so well. I loved this series though, can't wait to see what Phil does next!
Ends the series in a satisfying way
I put off playing part 4 because I didn't want it to end. And now I finished it and I'm sad there is no more. If you enjoyed old Sierra adventures, like Space Quest, you'll enjoy this. Period.
Beautiful ending!
SUMMARY
Ending the epic Snail-saga, Chapter 4 is a spectacle. Utilizing the most cutting edge graphics a DOS computer can buy, Snail Trek 4 ends on a high note, but also a strangely melancholy note. There is a good deal of action in this one, blowing up a reactor, killing a Zhawk. But there's also a good deal of "chemistry" puzzle involved, though it is not too punishing. Overall definitely a good finale with a few puzzles that may stump you for a bit.
OVERALL SCORE
Recommended
REPLAY VALUE
Linear
