Smells Like Burnt Rubber

A friend recently told me about the game because we were looking for something multiplayer capable with a low learning curve. You can tell that the game was developed with a lot of passion. So much attention to detail, in the graphics, the soundtrack, the frequency of expansions and the different tracks. Had a game night with my buddies yesterday, one with a 9 year old Laptop, and he was still able to play it without any problems. It's definitely going on my top games list.

My top pick for casual lunch break gaming right now. Just a few clicks and you're on. Given that it's brand new and yet missing a solid player base, I consider it a nice feature that you can search for online games anyway and just offers to fill up with bots after a while. The music stuff is awesome - I've never seen something comparable in video games before..

What can I say - a fantastic racing game in a cool retro style. Great multiplayer mode to have fun with friends - whether locally with friends or online with or without friends - that's why it's perfect for parties! (No matter if you're drunken or not. ;-)) Play with a keyboard or controller (e.g. PS or Xbox - also multiple ones simultaneously)? Both work perfectly! Also, the recurring gaming fun is provided by the possibility to completely adjust the difficulty level to your own skills and various options to unlock new skins, tires, and so on... So, I will definitly continue to play it regularly in the future!

Great arcade driving, but single-player gamers will not stay for long. The first step is to customize your character's color and icon. There is a good collection of icons, but you cannot create your own. You can also select your nation, however it merely displays the flag next to your name. Then you get to pick a vehicle class. Although each class has distinct stats, this does not matter because you can win a race with your favorite option. Because the game is not confined to cars, you can also select bikes, trucks, and even a Formula One car. Variety in different vehicles is nonexistent because each class has only one type. The controls are all the same and follow the arcade design. Aside from steering, you can accelerate, brake, and use the boost, which can be replenished by driving through a pit lane or drifting. Boost not only allows you to overcome your opponents, but also collide with them for extra damage. However, damage boost requires one complete slot out of three. Arcade driving means there are also power-ups. They’re random and include free boost refill, extra damage, or damage protection. When you blow up, your car respawns at the last checkpoint. Damage can be sustained by other vehicles and things spread around the track, such as exploding barrels. Except for 15 challenges, there is no career. You can only drive one of the 13 tracks by picking weather, daytime, laps, and opponent difficulty, or you can participate in a grand prix and drive across multiple tracks. Regardless of your choice, you will always gain fame, which unlocks new accessories such as lights, wheels, colors, and minor tuning options that increase specific stats. Multiplayer features are shown in weekly and monthly events. The reward for highest spots is a huge chunk of fame. You can also host a grand prix or participate in one, but finding others may be tough. Fortunately, the online is fair and does not get caught in an infinite loop when attempting to find a game. If there is nothing after a few seconds, the remaining spots will be filled by bots. If you’re into single-player games, you might get bored after a couple of hours. Challenges are decent, but too hard to spend time on them. The only reason to play longer is for achievements, but even those require a lot of time.

Great game, even runs on my old laptop like a charm. Takes me back to micro machine days. Still have to try out the multiplayer but so far this seems to be a great candidate for pizza and games with friends! Looking forward to it!
