Initial review was about PvP servers not working. They patched it and they worked a couple of days. They seem to be down again. No notice. Why is it hard to know? Because when you pick a match, you go to just a big frozen picture of the game with a notice it is matchmaking. There is no animation. You can't tell if the game is still running. You can't go into other menus and you can't escape the queue. You either bring up a browser or find something else to do and to get out of it once you realize no matchmaking is being done, you have to exit out of the game manually from steam or your task bar. Getting past all of that, I'm pretty sure when it was working, you were getting matched with bots most of the time. Because when playing 3 x 3 I was ALWAYS the center player and the other "players" were never picking up XP from kills unless they were melee and ran over it accidentally. When two or more bots randomly had the same type of hero, you would see them start the game making all the same decisions like which opponent to attack and using skills nearly identical. There may have been some really dumb players but pretty sure those were mostly bots. Especially seeing as peak time on steam was 5 players yesterday, It's fine to shorten queues with bots but when it's all bots, then it's not PvP anymore and it shouldn't be labeled as such. Add to that a pay to progress faster model (technically pay to win) and unbalance heroes. The game had potential but whoever was making these decisions, wasted a lot of the publishers money.

Unbalanced pay to win garbage.
Great game for early access! Cool concept - Besides managing your hero, you get to build your defenses and mob factories between games. Art and style are fitting to the theme. Looking forward to the see what they do with the Tower defense mode
games always vs bots, no ranked, dead game
at first it looked like brawl stars but as i started to explore the game i discovered that you can build your own base and play against other players who have their own bases which i think is pretty cool. with time and progress you can get more items to place in your base making it harder to crack. there are several game modes, i found 2v2 and 3v3 to be the most fun. me and a friend went for a strategy of one building turrets only and one building minions, forcing the enemy to fight us near the turrets while our minions rush forward - currently our top strategy. you can summon a giant robot to fight by your side which is cool as fighting head on isn't always the best scenario for the win and sometimes getting the robot on your side is sort of a tank pushing forward allowing you to focus on destroying the enemy base. there are probably other strategies i haven't discovered yet. i haven't unlocked all fighters yet, and am not sure what the fighter upgrades give except for more stats. overall the game is fun, fighting mechanics is good, matches are pretty short (< 5min) and there is a definite sense of progress as you play more.
Strangely addictive game. I have not experienced the Pay-to-Win that other reviewers have claimed, but I am quite annoyed that I am limited to ranking up on a long timer basis unless I decide to pay. Interesting concept, and currently I am hooked.
Warning: Microtransaction infested mobile app! This game is infested with a toxic mobile app style cash shop. You will be prompted to and expected to give money to the developers through this cash shop to buy in-game goods so you can play the game.
"Smash Cup" is one of thousands of nasty mobile apps infesting the "free" section of Steam, but it's not really free. This is just another garbage mobile scam with no players. If there were any, the winners of each battle is determined by who gave the mobile developers the most cash through the toxic P2W cash shop that infests this garbage. There's only a superficial game here. The game visuals and the game itself are incredibly shallow... think of them as the too-bright, colourful, thin plastic cabinet dress theme on a poker machine at the casino. That's basically what this is. So really, the mobile app "game" is just a veneer, a thin skin wrapped around a nasty, predatory mobile app cash shop. Putting that toxic mobile app monetisation aside... this is a mobile app. I didn't spend thousands on a gaming PC so I could pretend it's an iPhone, and I don't think you did either... this kind of mobile app has no place in your Steam library. As with all mobile scams, you're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality mobile app, this is specifically designed to invalidate your consumer rights and destroy your right to privacy. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. The developers abandoned this 1 year and 7 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 11 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Given that this free title won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? Not on a bet. This might be "free", but I still feel like I got ripped off.
