rank 3 play at time of the video: https://youtu.be/B_66qCZQ5hk Overall it's a entertaining arcade where you go around and pet all the cuddly BUNNIES! I like that you get keys to unlock different areas and the stages are quite nice looking with the buildings and what not I do wish there was some kind of progression for your dragon as you increased score kinda like that shark game on the phone where you eat bigger fish as you increase score and grow. It's nice that it already has a leaderboard built in to give some replay, but achievements would help give the players goals as well also the hit box on the knight bunnies are quite wonky I'm pretty sure you have to be behind them to eat them, but sometimes you can be pretty much all the way behind them and not eat them. I like how the creators set up stone dragons to give you an idea where your burrow is as well because it's quite easy to get lost while travelling the world petting BUNNIES.

Small Dragon Big Appetite is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. This student project gives us a rather cute dragon that runs around devouring bunnies to survive in a low poly environment... there's not a huge amount of depth or interest here, but there's a bit of bordering gameplay beyond just hunting bunnies. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. The developer chose not to do the job of a real game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content!" and lazily tried to use procgen algorithms to create infinite, samey, repetitive, soulless levels, because that's a lot less work. As a result of this poor decision, the game gets tired and repetitive almost immediately. Developers must learn that procgen is a terrible substitute for creating real content. It should not be used as "ez-mode" for content creation, as the developer tried to do here. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.
Dear Reader, I don’t say this lightly — Small Dragon Big Appetite genuinely changed my life. Before I found this little gem, gaming for me had started to feel... empty. Everything felt the same — fast-paced, competitive, all about winning and rushing to the end. I didn’t even realize how much I missed feeling something real while playing. And then came Pip — the tiniest dragon with the biggest hunger — and everything shifted. From the very first moments of the game, something inside me softened. The hand-painted world was so full of warmth, color, and care that it immediately pulled me out of the everyday noise and into somewhere that felt safe, magical, and alive. Guiding Pip through lush forests, cozy villages, and ancient ruins wasn’t just about exploration — it was like learning how to breathe again. Every meal Pip found, every new ability gained, every quirky villager met — it all made me feel connected to something bigger, something real. What really changed me, though, was the story hidden inside the adventure. Small Dragon Big Appetite isn’t just a game about a hungry dragon — it’s a story about growing up, about acceptance, about understanding that no matter how different you are, you deserve love, kindness, and a place to belong. Watching Pip stumble, grow, and be embraced by a world that didn’t always understand them made me reflect on my own life in a way I never expected. I realized how often I had been hard on myself for not fitting perfectly into the boxes the world expects — and through Pip’s journey, I learned that it’s okay to be different. In fact, it’s beautiful. The game’s original soundtrack became my safe place during hard days. The small, silly moments with villagers who were weird and wonderful reminded me to find joy in the little things. And the breathtaking world, painted with so much love, reminded me that it’s okay to slow down and just be for a while. Small Dragon Big Appetite gave me more than a fun experience — it gave me a piece of myself back. It taught me patience, self-love, and the power of quiet courage. It helped me reconnect with dreams and hopes I thought I had outgrown. And it made me believe, once again, that the world — like Pip’s — can be full of acceptance, magic, and second chances. If you’re reading this, and you’re looking for something to reignite your heart, please play this game. Let it in. Let it remind you that sometimes, the smallest dragons — and the quietest moments — can change everything. With all my heart, Someone Whose Life Was Changed Forever
