Absolutely glorious game. Haven't finished it yet, which is usually the bar I set before reviewing games, but I really want it to get more attention. It's challenging, which is what you want out of a puzzle game, it's satisfying, the story is simple but solid, and in 3 hours of playing I encountered exactly one bug, which was instantly fixed on reloading. Also it's free, and unlike many free games, does not cost you time, because it's actually fun to play.

A hugely expansive and fun puzzle game that is completely free??? I am so amazed at the quality of this game, I'm 2 hours in and there is still so much to explore. I would have easily paid money for this game, and cannot believe it is literally free. There's legit no reason not to get it.
非常优质的游戏,如果它是付费的,我会很乐于购买。 仅剩的问题只有攻略了,我认为攻略应该直接放图片更好。
实则强悍。
Why the hell is this free it's a whole game
Slider turns the familiar sliding-tile puzzle into something far more adventurous than its simple premise initially suggests. Developed and published by boomo, it builds an entire puzzle adventure around rearranging pieces of a shattered world. Instead of moving numbered squares around an abstract board, players manipulate actual sections of the environment with a mysterious device called The Artifact. Roads, structures, characters, useful objects, and obstacles can effectively become components of a giant movable puzzle. This gives an old puzzle concept a refreshing sense of physicality because changing the board also changes the world the protagonist can explore. The story provides a fitting reason for this unusual mechanic. A cataclysm has fractured the world, leaving its inhabitants separated and their surroundings scrambled. The player's task is essentially to reconnect what has been broken while helping a strange assortment of characters and investigating the mysteries behind the disaster. There is also the considerably more personal objective of finding a missing cat. The narrative maintains a light and quirky personality rather than overwhelming the puzzles with excessive exposition, and the theme of rebuilding fits naturally with a game where virtually everything revolves around putting pieces back together. The Artifact is the centerpiece of the experience. Players slide chunks of terrain into different positions to establish routes, access treasures, complete grids, and solve environmental problems. The clever part is that a tile is simultaneously a piece of a puzzle and a location the character can physically occupy. Consequently, solving a situation often requires thinking about how the landscape will function after it has been rearranged rather than simply identifying where individual squares belong. Exploration and puzzle solving become interconnected instead of existing as separate activities. Variety is one of the game's greatest strengths. Its adventure is divided among nine distinctive regions, with each location introducing a different interpretation of the traditional 8-puzzle formula. The developers experiment with concepts including rotating environments, tactical combat, three-dimensional grids, and time manipulation. These additions prevent the fundamental sliding mechanic from becoming excessively repetitive. Rather than merely making later boards larger or more cumbersome, the game frequently alters what players must consider when manipulating them. The expanding collection of objects adds another layer of complexity. Anchors, minecarts, buoys, lights, and other interactive elements gradually become part of the player's problem-solving vocabulary. New concepts generally build upon knowledge established by earlier puzzles, creating a satisfying progression from straightforward spatial challenges toward situations involving several interacting systems. This approach makes successful solutions rewarding because advancement increasingly depends on understanding relationships between mechanics instead of randomly shifting tiles until something works. Exploration provides a welcome break from concentrated puzzle solving. There are treasures to uncover, unusual characters to assist, mysteries to investigate, and plenty of humorous details scattered throughout the world. Its top-down pixel presentation is especially appropriate for the grid-based structure because individual sections of the environment remain visually understandable while still possessing enough detail to resemble actual places. The cute and occasionally absurd tone also keeps the experience inviting even when the puzzles become substantially more complicated. There is a generous amount of content for a free-to-play puzzle adventure, with the Steam description advertising more than ten hours. The nine-region structure gives the journey a meaningful sense of progression, while achievements and optional discoveries provide additional incentives for players who enjoy thoroughly exploring puzzle environments. The game remains focused on a single-player experience, so its appeal depends primarily on enjoying methodical experimentation, spatial reasoning, and increasingly elaborate logic problems. The main drawback is inherent to the central concept itself. Players who find sliding puzzles frustrating are unlikely to be completely converted simply because the traditional board has been transformed into an explorable world. Some later situations can require considerable experimentation as additional mechanics become intertwined. The adventure also remains fundamentally puzzle-driven even when elements such as combat appear, so anyone expecting conventional action or extensive role-playing systems should adjust expectations accordingly. For its intended audience, however, the gradual introduction of new ideas does an excellent job of maintaining momentum. Steam Deck compatibility is particularly strong. The game is Steam Deck Verified, with its functionality accessible through the default controller configuration. It displays appropriate controller icons, its interface text is considered legible on the handheld screen, and the default graphics configuration performs properly on the device. It also runs successfully through SteamOS. Full controller support suits the tile-based gameplay well, making the handheld format a natural match for shorter puzzle sessions as well as longer stretches of exploration. What ultimately makes Slider memorable is how thoroughly it explores the possibilities hidden inside an extremely simple idea. Rearranging tiles evolves from a straightforward navigation mechanic into a framework capable of supporting exploration, environmental puzzles, unusual objects, tactical elements, three-dimensional thinking, and manipulation of time. Its whimsical presentation and strange characters give the mechanical experimentation personality, while the fragmented-world premise makes puzzle solving feel connected to the adventure rather than artificially imposed upon it. This is an inventive and remarkably substantial puzzle adventure that succeeds by continuously finding new applications for its central mechanic. Its combination of clever spatial challenges, evolving mechanics, nine varied regions, exploration, humor, and excellent Steam Deck compatibility makes it especially appealing to players who enjoy thoughtful puzzle games that steadily introduce new ideas without abandoning the simplicity of their original concept. challenging and entertaining, i admire the minds of those who created the puzzles in this game, some solutions were obvious while others were out of the box. great game, loved interacting with different characters
