I have played the game on my phone and a bit on the playstation, so don't mind the hours (although i haven't played much, and i played blind so i might be wrong about some stuff) Slay the spire is imo a very overrated card game and rougelike, it relies too much on rng, there are way too many cards for you to get consistent builds and there aren't many ways to manipulate the rng. All while having somewhat limited options with only 3 base mana and cards normally getting discarded after a single turn, this isn't as bad as other things, but i feel like it just takes a lot of combo and build potiontal. Card upgrades are very boring, they are mostly a boost to what the card does, without changing it's function. And the first 3 characters, cuz i haven't unlocked the 4th, has been boring to me, the best has to be defect since he is the only one with a somewhat interesting mechanic. And the enemy design has been pretty average so far, without anything interesting. I don't think it's a bad game, if you are into rougelikes that rely on rng and making crazy builds, you might like it, i don't. I think there are many other games, with the same or a similar concept and are basically better at everything.
this game is for the mentaly ill that like shooters
best game
I don't think I've ever been so sure I would like a game, only to be so wrong. I have played for 28 hours and beat the game with each character, but I've decided to cut my losses with this one. Veterans will praise the game's "fine balance", but that balance ONLY EXISTS for veteran players. There is no room in the game for a casual player, and until you have played 100+ hours, you will just lose (slowly) most of the time, and even when you do win, it isn't satisfying, it just feels like you had good RNG that round. I had fun exploring the game for the first 10 hours, but it's been a chore since. I can see where the game could become more fun after 100+ hours, but I don't want to grind 100 hours of non-fun play just to get there. I'll probably look into Slay the Spire 2 when it launches, but I won't be interested if they haven's solved the issue of accessibility for learners and casual gamers. I did like almost everything else about the game. Nice vibe, music, art, and playstyle. There is a nice variety of cards, consumables, and relics. The game could use wayyyy more enemy types, there's only like 20 different enemies you can fight and it makes each run too repetitive when you fight the same enemies, in roughly the same order, every run. I definitely can understand the cult following for this game, and clearly the devs did something right with all the positive reviews this game has, but if you aren't planning to spend 100 hours learning the game, it might just be better to skip it.
Slay the Spire?
