Alright. Well, as of Oct. 2017 the first hour of the game is polished, awesome, and very fun! After you get passed this the game is pretty alpha stage. I can't wait for this game to be completed! When it's done, and if the rest of the game is like the beginning, this game will be top tier adventure game.

Right off the bat this game had my attention. There is a cool atmospheric introduction which has you arriving by boat through a cave to the first area. The first area is an island that shows you the basic mechanics. The core of the game is climbing and platforming, which work great. Climbing is done with the grip buttons on the Vive controllers and is a lot of fun. While progressing, i found a few items and keys that allowed me to access areas I couldn't get to before. So far I played for about an hour and a half exploring the hub world and several dungeons and still havent beat it. I love the environment, a mix between sci-fi and low-poly. I look forward to following the game as it evolves over the course of development. The only issue i had with the game is that there is a little bit of slowdown in some spots. I assume this will be improved since the game is in early access. I will update the review as updates come out.
https://youtu.be/MIpTFJt98aI What if Zelda cheated on Link and had a baby with Climbey? Well, you'd get Sky Climbers. Sky Climbers feels like a Zelda style game with Climbey platformer mechanics. It's even got a hookshot! The game bills itself as an action/platformer. Let's knock out the negatives as that's a short list: This is more nitpickey and just tweaking settings rather than a major issue but... The trackpad locomotion is a bit too jerky and not responsive enough. When you press the trackpad down there's a brief delay before you start moving and when you do start moving it's very abrupt and jarring. It feels like lag tbh. Like the system started moving me as soon as I hit the button but the screen didn't catch up until a split second later. This is mostly an issue for fine movement adjustments near edges. I would recommend tweaking the locomotion to be more responsive, and gradually accelerate to max speed over a short time. I'd also like the max speed to be increased or possibly a setting. It was on the slow side for me. The only other negative thing I can come up with after playing the game is that the way they handle the beta branch can confuse players. I expected it to be the full game with new beta features implemented but it's more of a test bed area. If you're looking to play the full game, don't opt into the beta. Other than that, visually the game was very interesting. The mix of nature and almost Tron like machine graphics look great to me. It is a bit on the low poly side which may put off some but I don't mind the low poly look. The audio was very impressive. It helped to set the mood of the dojos very well. The ambient noises outside the dojos felt good and added to the immersion factor. The popping sound as you grip onto things was a nice and subtle feedback that you've grabbed onto something. Thus far the puzzles haven't been too bad. More about your jumping skill than really having to think anything out. I expect dojo 2 will build on what we saw in dojo 1 and will require the hookshot. We'll find out in the next video! Overall Sky Climbers was an enjoyable experience and it's definitely one that I will be recommending.
This is a game with potential. Unique parkour style movement and climbing systems. Reminds me a little bit of Windlands. I can not recommend the game in its current state (early access) however. Teleportation is very bugged, the same goes for NPC dialog, The game has a very unfinished feel overall with constant irritating bugs and limited content. The art style is colorful cartoonish, but the world feels lifeless. Might be worth playing in its finished state, but not as it is right now.
This is a really cool Early Access game with cool music and gameplay mechanics (think Windlands and Climbey). This is what VR is made for: doing the impossible. I finished all current dojos (four as of Oct. 20, 2017) in an hour and a half without rushing. The end teases a few more areas which one assumes will come in further updates. I had this game on my wishlist and was going to wait for a sale, but I ended up getting it in a bundle of other games for a really low price. I actually feel bad, because I wasn't expecting much. Assuming the other areas are added, as the end of the game sets up, the game is worth its asking price.
Played on the Index, with Index controllers. This game was due to be released already, but has been delayed and that is a good thing, because the amount of bugs I experienced during my play session would have resulted in a thumbs down. So, this is the game in its current EA form. Sky Climbers is described as an action RPG. You emerge from a tent in the wilderness and are greeted by a fox, who seems to be a guide of sorts. The controls are a bit odd, with a prominent mechanic being a jump which resembles 'Climbey' a bit. You press (trigger by default) while reaching up and swing your arms down, you are shown a jump projection and you can adjust the target easily by just moving your hands around before letting go of the button. This might sound tricky, but it can be done at your own pace as you simply hover until you release the button. You can, while you are airborne, use your regular movement to thrust yourself in whatever direction. You can walk around normally on the ground, with a range of options to choose how you do so, if you can get them to work that is. (*EA!) Performance is pretty rough atm. I initially launched the game at 120Hz with a 140% SS and the game was in a constant 60fps repro, with additional BAD stutter in places. I adjusted this to 90Hz with 110% SS and was roughly 40-50% in repro to 45fps. A further adjustment down to 90% subsampling got the game running smoothly. This is with a 2080ti and 9700k and on 'High' setting - but there is little difference that I could see between 'Low' and 'High'. That is not great news and hopefully will improve for launch. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1877548212 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1877548104 Screenshots dont do it justice, the game does look a bit better in the headset. Bugs are a thing, but given its still in EA you do expect these can happen.

Some options dont seem to work, for eg, it allows you to select whether you want 'grip' or 'trigger' for climbing or jumping, but I couldnt get grip to work (I did try with Vive wands too, incase it wasnt playing nice with the Index controllers - which are not listed as compatible. Didnt work with them either.)
Terrain clipping.
Checkpoints seem odd - early in the game, with every game restart or even just going back to the main menu and back into the game I was put back to the top of the first stairs you come across, I had to run down the stairs to get the fox to follow me back up - which it didnt want to do because it ignored me until I ran 10 seconds back towards the start location, I did this at least 8 times!!
Event triggering - having to run back and forth to get the fox to react to something.
Pathfinding - Fox going inside the terrain, or floating in the sky.
Falling through the world.
Can wipe your game easily by clicking 'New game' which is front and center when you are going through the menu.
Your satchel's contents disappears when you go into the menu.
Your satchel is a bit awkwardly placed, diagonally and a bit far out from your body, making it annoying to try grab things off the ground.
With all that said!! This game is actually full of potential. Its world is of a decent standard visually. The music is lovely and fitting. Creatures look great. Menu's with things in them (I know this sounds silly, but the amount of games that offer little or nothing in the way of options is crazy!), audio sliders, basic graphics (low/med/high), some key binds, movement - gaze/controller/touch/press. It does lack anything for people who may be prone to motion sickness. I have good "VR legs" and had no problem myself, but its something to consider. The game needs a revisit post-launch for a proper verdict, and I do intend to do so as I am actually excited to play this thing minus the bugs! So for now, this is a neutral rating. I do recommend you wishlist it and check in with it for post-launch impressions. http://www.83830.com/game/201702/161124171.shtml
Ein sehr idyllisches Kletterspielchen in VR, zusammen mit Story und schön designten Kreaturen. Es gibt noch einige Bugs bzgl. der Steuerung, im Großen und Ganzen aber durchaus zu empfehlen.
