This game does not respect your time. There's also just so many problems with it. Play something else, please.
They market several in app purchases as limited time purchases to imply artificial scarcity and then they just bring said in app purchases back whenever they please, years later. Do not trust thatgamecompany with your money. They are con artists.

i initially played this game in 2020 when i was like 11 years old, and i decided to pick it up again. it is just as beautiful as i remember! i remembered quitting because i kind of did everything, and i've come back to hours of content to catch up on, so there is plenty of content especially for new players. the world and its art is beautifully crafted, and so is the story telling, as the game sparsely uses dialogue and prefers to tell its story through environment and animation. sky is truly one of the most beautiful games of all time in all aspects of world building, visuals, and music. the controls can be a little janky but they're easy to get used to, and best played on controller or phone. once you get the movement down, especially for flying, it can feel very satisfying. the social aspect of the game is also great, it's easy and important to make friends and interact with people. the game puts a heavy emphasis on its social elements, so you will often have awesome interactions with the other players, since the community is very nice : ) but despite all of that, i cannot recommend this game for 2 reasons. firstly, another major aspect of the game is cosmetics, which are nearly impossible to obtain unless you grind it like it's a job or pay money. this completely negates any enjoyment you may have felt about the game previously, as all predatory monetization does. paid cosmetics are also ridiculously expensive, especially with how simplistic they often are. secondly, the camera is SO. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. BAD. oh my god. it is genuinely ridiculous how sick i feel and how long it lasts. every time i play this game i end up nauseous, it doesn't matter if i'm playing on my laptop, on the tv, on my phone, i always feel incredibly sick afterwards, and it sucks having such a negative association with such a beautiful game. the camera movement is just so jank... the control gets taken away from you a lot, and whenever it tries to follow spirits it somehow does it in the most jarring way possible. the FOV also constantly gets readjusted for some reason, and the camera will suddenly jerk to places it wants you to look. you also are often unable to tell whatever the hell your camera is following, if it's an objective that someone else activated and you were forced into or if it's just some random direction it wants you to look in. in sequences where it would probably be better to lock the camera sometimes, it just doesn't, and will let you look somewhere completely unrelated, or it will let you adjust and IMMEDIATELY jerk back to where it wants you to look. it is Hell. not even playing vr for a few hours straight makes me feel as sick as this game does. how am i supposed to slave away at candle grinding for cosmetics if i can't even play the game for more than an hour without wanting to throw up???
A beautiful game absolutely ruined in moments of 'fear of missing out'.
JOURNEY was pure art, a classic in gaming's history. SKY was Meant as a spiritual successor. Made by American Indie developers who were students when they made Journey in 2012. "Sky: CotL" was released for IOS back in 2019. I repeat, ONLY for IOS.. The game came to Steam in 2024 and is in Early Access for some inexplicable reason? Despite being a 7+ year old game. 2 years have passed and still in Early Access? Just get over it, stop pretending. This is a always-online live service game akin to something like Warframe. Leading to my issue with this game: the polar contrast between its artistic roots and the corporate monetization. It's like installing a coin-operated machine on the Mona Lisa and having people throw quarters to see the art piece for 5 minutes.. This is not the way of "Journey" This is selling out. Excessive monetization and wringing of the playerbase has been an issue in our beloved gaming industry and one could expect such lowly behavior from filth like Ubisoft or EA, but from beloved indie devs who created "Journey" one of the best games in human history?! Despicable. - This is a cozy games, so there are no noteworthy or P2W items. Only cosmetic ones and the real price for some are just way too exuberant. The limited pool of items available in the game is locked behind huge candle grinds which forces players to forego the amazing vibe, the sad co-op and just log-in daily to do pesky candle runs. And for what? to get a 3rd cosmetic cloak when one can wear only one at a time? Heck, an action game like Warframe provides far more cosmetic gameplay if that's what you want. - What doesn't help is that the majority of content and cosmetics, especially the cool ones, are locked behind seasons which they promised would return. Years have passed and not a single season has repeated, instead new seasons like the recent "Van Gogh" are added. Very rarely "some" random seasonal trader appears and you might get access to locked content but even then it still has a ridiculous candle price. The game itself is not infinite, running the same regions again and again is not fun, especially if you grind candle runs! The devs claim that their philosophy is to sell specific "emotions and feelings" above all else. What kind of emotions are they getting out of us with such greedy treatment? Players are busy looking DOWN to collect candles, instead of looking UP at the literal Sky, the damn namesake of this game!!! There are so many cute and cool animations, most of which players will take a long time to collect or master. I personally was lucky to have started during an event when all seasonal quest givers (not traders) returned for a brief moment, which allowed me to get all the animations and experience the seasonal quests to some degree. That means I already experienced EVERYTHING this game has to offer! Animations are good but what use are they if there is no one to play with? I ain't gonna drag my friends into this! I expected they would utilize the unique co-op mechanic of Journey to nudge players to play together, but sadly everyone got their noses stuck to the ground caring only about candle runs... Worse is that many are AFK and hold hands with a friend who carries them through candle runs, or fake accounts to sit on the main players shoulders so they can get double rewards. OR a recent addition, Chinese fake player bots. How happy the devs must be after seeing all these flaws and thinking locking us behind 4-8 man requiring doors is their way to "nudge" us towards co-op multiplayer. Funnily there are maybe 2 doors like that in the entire game, hah! For what it's worth the aesthetic is beautiful and the world cool to explore. Seasonal quests are more fleshed out than others and the game is WORTH checking out for at least a single story completion! It retreads same points as Journey and does not fail in its presentation. But after finishing it, what's there to do? What's the point of staying? The players? Hah. Just because the game is worth a single playthrough, I treat it as a linear single player experience and recommend it. Otherwise no.
Follow/ Sigue a "La Cruceta Inquieta", Steam curator/ mentor de Steam

ESP
ENG
In “Sky: Children of the Light” I hoped to share with other players the contemplative beauty of games like “Journey” or “Abzû,” but unfortunately, it offers little more than repetitiveness and, instead, a worrying lack of gameplay incentives. Furthermore, its social aspect is poorly executed, leaving players with the option to interact with others, making it more of an option than a necessity. Given its apparent success, there will surely be players who appreciate its (excessively) slow pace and see it as a title simply to pass the time, but personally, I cannot recommend a game that is so unfinished, even for being in early access. Pros: - Some contemplative moments that do justice to the genre; - Its exploration sections can be quite enjoyable; - A well-executed and satisfying cloud simulation. Cons: - It's been in early access for too long, and it still shows; - It fails as an MMO because its social aspect is too limited; - There's a difference between being contemplative and offering almost no incentive to keep playing; - Excessive slowness and redundancy at every turn.
As someone who has played the game since it first release which was 6 years ago, the game and community was really good when it was newly released on mobile, as the time passes their creations and stuff does get better with more quality, but most of them are behind a pay wall which is really expensive, even items that uses in game currency are expensive and need you to farm for them for days or month just to get something, and there's too much microtransaction in the game. As for the community it has both good and bad sides, but most people doesn't interact with others now days or when they do they either are looking for people to e-date or they will barely be online after your first interaction. The game is story driven but after you finish the main story there isn't much to do, game play is repetitive needing you to do cr for the game currency which you can get maximum of 20 to 21 per day, but the cosmetics that's good are mostly 80 and above, so it does get boring very easily and mentality draining to grind for the currency every day. I did enjoy this game at one point, but recently i does not enjoy it and would not recommend the game
TLDR; don't play this game unless you're prepared to sink hours upon hours into it for very little rewards. not even unemployed people have the time LOL honestly pains me to say i wouldn't recommend this game to new players, but i think sky gets glazed so much and there aren't many players who feel comfortable possibly disrupting the atmosphere of the community for the majority, so here's my two cents as someone who has played for years, both consecutively and with breaks. the game itself, as in the story and the art, is gorgeous. it's a story that means a lot to many people, that has depth and details that may take you a while to pick up on or discover. but, i believe that almost every other aspect of the game is flawed, starting with the most integral feature: co op. not only do friends who are actively holding hands or being carried or cradled STILL get split into different servers constantly, but it's such a genuine faff around in order to reunite which is extremely frustrating during a candle or winged light run (more on that after). of course it can't be helped if someone's ping differs and so on - but man, when you're in a group of over three people and EVERYONE splits and the lead runner gets put in a full server, that ♥♥♥♥ is so annoying. as for candle running, 20 candles a day is so stingy. pumping out ts, ts groups, events with items that may not return ever OR will return but who knows when is really just unfair. it's no wonder so many players quit after a few days, and others become extremely unmotivated. i mean seriously, for non-sweaty players, a candle run might take 2 to 3 hours, depending on your chosen route AND factoring in splits and crashes. it's exhausting. which brings me to the next point: how can the devs reasonably expect vets to adopt moths when we barely have time to farm candles everyday? this upcoming ts group is supposedly around 730 candles altogether, plus days of moonlight and days of camping. you need to consistenly farm 20 candles a day to only get 120 all up. how can ANYONE save if they're still trying to catch up? it almost feels like a punishment sometimes for not being active when that spirit was introduced during their season. it's frustrating, exhausting, and honestly makes the game lose all it's charm extremely quickly. i only play because i've put years and money into this, and i'm still naively hoping that it will somehow pay off, but i have many sky friends who agree that this game is an absolute chore, players who have been within the community from launch or just after. you could be playing this game for years and still probably never catch up. it's a real, honest shame. i feel bad for moths, for vets and for any loyal player.
