SilverQuest: Gaiden was originally started as "miniflake" in 2009, released as a solo project by I-GAME-ART, the game was launched into alpha state on a website called Desura, and later Steam. Wolfgame came on to do additional artwork and design in 2012. The goals were to create a deeply expandable roguelike with a classic black and white design.
Unfortunately, that did not come to plan as I-GAME-ART had to stop working on the game and games in general around 2012. Since then, the game has been frozen in time on Steam.
The current game and its source code will be released at a later date.
Thank you.

If you're a kid of the 80's and consider retro-dungeon-crawlers to be your type of game you may very much like this tiny piece of software. And oh my gosh, what fun it was to fiddle around with those graphic settings. 2-Bit, incoooming!
not much to see pre alpha just dumped, don't waste your cash, should honestly be removed from the store
Game isn't very good yet. I'm not very good at it. I had trouble motivating myself to play it. Honestly -they could take this same game, put Rogues Tale skins on it and it might be pretty good. But this trend of going 8-bit (or even less in this case) isn't a good one. Its a lazy approach to game creation. It sucks because who knows- maybe the ruleset is good - but its 2017 - theres no reason to to make games with these graphics. Spend the money on an artist. This game could be so much better.... and sell so much more!! Upgrade the graphics beyond this 4-bit junk! In its currrent form I cannot recommend it.

If old Rogue-like games with the 1989/90's graybrick Gameboy graphics, tickle you? A rosy reminder of fueled days with milk and cookies from yer youth? SQG could be what you are looking for. Important to note SilverQuest: Gaiden is in Early Access and nowhere as fleshed out as it should be. What grabbed me was its aim to be a very moddable game which allows the adding and expanding of what you like by the user. The current price IMHO is an invesment into what will hopefully end up as a nice rogue-style game.
Tags: Topdown - GridRogue Addditional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Eternal Early Access. Simple rogue formula. Outcompeted. This dev can produce good content but programming is not his strong suit. Here is something he says he was involved in making as far as I understand : http://store.steampowered.com/app/447530/VA11_HallA_Cyberpunk_Bartender_Action/ Seems like that game got published under a different developper's name and while I dont want to yell foul play, I am a little bummed out that there has been a clear disassociation between his past work and his new successes. It somehow confirms that the final nail of the coffin has been in this title for quite a while and we have just been left out of the loop about it About the game: Its a mixed bag - the sound design is good - the game is really hard to decipher graphically but that is on purpose as a stylistic choice. Does not help that I could not get it to go full screen. The character is very bouncy - and everything feels reactive, which is something I find many minimalistic rogue likes struggle with as they blandly move a character about with no animation and no feedback, it feels disconnected and I find myself not micromanaging correctly to stay alive. This game indirectly trains me not to fall in those old habits and I perform better than I would in these other titles. The content seemed rather bare and limited, but then again I am no pro at these games and cant make it very far. Conclusion: Without programming talent this project is dead in the water and has been for a long time, I am going to have to make a call and say that this clutters my library and stop keeping it around in the hope that some breakthrough happens. Anyways if I was right about what I said earlier it seems this dev has learned to capitalize on his strenght and has gone on to do good things so I am not going to hold the fate of this title against him. I think I got it in a bundle anyways.
I can't quite find out the point and how to play the game
Hopefully it will be finished.
Really good game! But pleas add fullscreen thanx.
I need lasik surgery again after that.
