Have I beaten the game already in less than a half hour? Yes. Was it the most nerve-racking, most toe-curling, most ass-sweating 10 minutes of my life? Absolutely. This game is strides above tears of the kingdom, and the cinematic masterpiece that is the art for this game is an uncountable number of level's above the Barbie movie.
I made this game and it has special place in my heart. It's really easy to throw stones, especially when you aren't a creator. For me personally, I'm proud of what my team made. Over the course of a year our little team of 6 created a custom engine, no unity, unreal, or any of that, and created a game within that custom engine. Little word of advice for anyone reading this, don't let haters get you down, Shroom & Doom is not a masterpiece by any means, but my team has grown, we're 20 strong now and we're about to drop a certified banger in early 2025. So thank you for playing our little tower defense game, we're just getting started 😎

Pretty fun little game. I saw some reviews saying the game opened into a weird resolution, but I did not have that problem and I have a completely normal monitor. As far as the gameplay goes, it's simple and great :) the music is a bop, the graphics are pretty nice, and the sfx are funny, although lose novelty fast. Two QoL changes that drastically effect how the game is played: using tab to open the buy menu is fine, but it's a little hard to hit tab while moving with WASD. Changing the buy menu to space or mouse2 would've been a better choice, imo, because it doesn't force you to stop going a certain direction in order to open it. Another thing, the avatar moves way too slow to have the point orbs disappear after an amount of time. I get that other games do this and it encourages you to move around a lot, but it gets really annoying when I am physically incapable of getting two orbs that are far enough apart that going for one sacrifices the other. Either adding an upgrade or buffing base speed should fix this problem.
The game opens at an absurd resolution which places the options on the title screen out of view, there is a distinct difference in where the mouse cursor is on the screen and where it registers in the game, and the noises made when clicking things is annoying. If this is the state of the game when it was presented as a project, I imagine those involved got a failing grade.
"Shroom & Doom" is another student project from Digipen, and while sometimes they come out with remarkable little gems of games, this time unfortunately the students didn't seem to pass the course. This is a lame 2D retro wave survival/kiting simulator with some mild tower defense elements (but it's more of a shooter than a TD). From lame graphics to derivative gameplay, this doesn't offer anything to serious PC gamers. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs to pretend they're mobile phones or Commodore 64s. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
very fun cute games with homemade sound effects and a cute silly art style , i hope the developer works on this more as i would love to see where it goes :))
pretty cool. I like the concept and the art style
Keine Empfehlung.
Very addictive, could be the new Vampire Survivors
