About
Each stage in Showgunners has been hand-crafted to create a curated, turn-based tactical gameplay experience, heightened with the inclusion of a diabolical show director that can hinder Scarlett or help her opponents depending on your performance. This dynamic level design ensures that no two levels play the same way and keep players thinking tactically. Showgunners has been built to challenge and delight players, whether they’re a turn-based tactical game initiate or a long-time fan of the genre!
Scarlett won’t be fighting alone. As the story progresses, players will recruit new partners that can turn the tide of battle in all kinds of exciting ways. Upgrade your characters by spending talent points in their unique skill trees and outfitting them with weapons bought at a shop or earned during battle. Hidden challenges within each chapter can unlock more allies, legendary weapons, and helpful items, so be sure to keep an eye out!
Players will need to navigate an obstacle course of deadly traps and lethal puzzles in real-time, but be prepared for an ambush at any corner. Psychopathic enemies like the Ogre and the Ronin aren’t the only deadly elements you’ll need to overcome. Combat scenarios are peppered with unique environmental hazards, from ticking time bombs to runaway trains. There is never a dull moment in Showgunners!
Gain fame by avoiding death, surviving rounds, and eliminating your enemies with gruesome panache. The more you succeed, the more fans you earn; your growing fame will yield increasingly beneficial sponsorship deals.
Streamers, rejoice! Use the native Twitch integration to keep audiences engaged by letting them control the direction of each level. They can add more enemies, change the terrain, add or remove obstacles, or send useful items, all from chat.

Wasted potential. On paper, the creators had a recipe for something great but they squandered it on a bland, repetitive and very poorly balanced experience. STORY - predictable from the first cutscene that hints at the protagonist's motivations and it unfolds exactly as you expect it to with zero twists. It's as straightforward as US foreign policy. AUDIO - repetitive and grating music tracks. Voice acting is alright, although for some reason half the time the protagonist sounds like she's about to cry. GRAPHICS - alright, nothing to write home about. Although due to the camera angle the levels you explore feel extremely claustrophobic. PERFORMANCE - it played fairly well at max settings on my old PC for 90% of the game, but the final levels stuttered a lot due to the insane amount of enemies. GAMEPLAY - Here's where the game fell apart for me due to the lack of balance: 1) Enemies have just enough health to not be one-shot by your attacks. And when you get stronger guns... you guessed it, enemies get a bump in health. There are vendor kiosks in the base and throughout the game's stages, but the guns you find in boxes or receive as rewards are always better. Purchased weapons may have better damage stats, but they are quickly outclassed by found armaments. Save your money for grenades which are found only rarely and are very useful. 2) You are always outnumbered. Eventually, your character roster grows to six characters, but you can only ever bring three to big battles (except for the finale) while always being outnumbered at least 4:1. In some of the later battles there are so many enemies that it can take a few minutes for them all to complete their moves. 3) Disparity between the shots enemies can take and your characters can take. It feels like the enemies' guns are not limited by the effective range parameter and your cover may as well not exist for them. Enemies will hit you while you're in cover much more consistently than you do them, so you may as well not even try and risk flanking instead. Some specialist enemies outright feel like they actually ignore cover and always hit. 4) Enemies spam overwatch so much it actually becomes annoying and drags battles out. 5) Each enemy type has a specific type of armour that your guns are effective against. But instead of the gun tooltip telling you that this or that gun is effective against a particular type of enemy, it tells you what type of armour it's effective against. Better hope you can remember at a glance which enemy wears which armour, and there are ten or more enemy types in the game. 6) Most of the time enemy behaviour is very predictable. Except when you use one particular ability which either breaks the enemies' AI or is intentionally made to make enemies behave differently to how they normally do so this particular ability doesn't become too useful despite its long cooldown. 7) There could have been so much more done with the base where your team members rest between missions. With the way it is implemented, It could have been cut from the game and replaced with cutscenes and nothing would be lost. It serves as a bit of padding to make you run around some more and click some interactables and nothing else. 8) Gun magazines are much too small. Most guns need to be reloaded every 2 or 3 shots, which only further serves to pad the battles by making you waste actions. There are even guns with just 1 shot. Those are fun to use... (/s) Then there's a very strong character who never needs to reload her gun without any downside to balance it out. Get it only if it's heavily discounted because the execution doesn't hold up to the interesting premise.
题材和画风都不喜欢,回合制战斗玩法还不错,但关卡中间又夹杂了很多无聊的探索和“解谜”,没太大意思。
Story: Running Man meets Death Race, kind of. Thin plot. No fetch quests, no gameplay-altering lore/intel/voxophone collection, just one main story - get to the top and over it. Just the way I like it. Gameplay: I come from Firaxis XCOM, so I'll use that as a basis for the review. The encounters are XCOM-lite, but the small maps + more frequent encounters with 0 pod mechanics are more Chimera Squad. The limit of 3 deployable characters in each encounter means less theorycrafting about character skill combinations. I am currently only at 60% of base game completion, but so far, the characters are simple but differentiated enough. It does not feel like one is just the stronger version of the other. Enemy archetypes are also simple (minion/melee/assault?/healer/summoner/heavy/sniper so far). Simple mechanics mean simple tactics, but there's still enough for skill expression. The semi-open world exploration map is lootboxes (guns/supplies/mods) for your characters, autographs (get enough of them for better team/main character mods), optional encounters with better lootboxes, and booby traps/puzzles that can damage you before your next encounter. There's a lower proportion of exploration than there is base-building in XCOM, meaning more time just fighting enemies. Balance: Not great, but serviceable. In XCOM2 terms, your main character is a Ranger with easy access to Run&Gun (with clunkier controls, so be careful), passive Reaper (melee kills refund action points), multiple copies of Blademaster (+melee damage), a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of mobility, active full-turn + enemy turn gunfire immunity, Shadowstep (immunity to triggering overwatch). The rifle butt is a better weapon than the rifle. +mobility spam is just too good. There's enough damage to go around. The side characters are more balanced with more pronounced weaknesses, mostly relating to the lack of action economy gamebreakers. Unique encounter mods allow for some skill expression, but alpha-striking, usually with a rifle butt, beats all. Aesthetic: Not a triple-A game, and not to be treated as such. I'm always a sucker for bloody top-down action, and this does not disappoint. Plenty of blood for everyone. The announcer is a little mixed. Can be grating after a while. Could use some idle filler between characters, like small talk, not that I mind the quiet. Bugs: a few gameplay bugs here and there, like being unable to shoot the objective. The game freezes once in a while. Enough bugs for deter me from considering ironman. The initial loading is long and it's hard to tell if the game has frozen or is just trying to load. Overall: solid 8/10 game. I was looking for an XCOM-lite with a different aesthetic, and I found it. I have mixed feelings about buying it at sticker price, but highly recommended when steeply discounted!
Let the Carnage Begin
The Running Man (1987) with Arnold Schwarzenegger, XCOM gameplay and the atmosphere of Cyberpunk 2077. Yeah. Give me two.
Really fun XCOM style tactics game with interesting enemies and characters. It's a shame that most of the characters don't have an arc, or any agency, and just go along with the MC, without any question or complaint. It feels like the creators had bigger plans for all of them, and the story in general, but in the end, all of it got cut for time or cost.
