Retro FPS with dynamic fights and modern lighting. Sprite enemies once again flooded some pixel art-decorated levels. Only boomer-shooter enjoyer could deal with such kind of problem. You know the drill - gear up with a classic weapons pack and paint it red.

Bought this since I'm a big fan of boomer shooters since I grew up with them. Turns out, this game is literal garbage. - Took forever to start up for absolutely no reason. - Game is just laggy (or seems laggy) even at the lowest settings - Can't remap the keys or change the mouse sensitivity. Ya know, THE BASIC OPTIONS TO HAVE FOR A FPS??????? - The monsters are uninspired and look like shìt. Why? Because they couldn't be bothered to actually make their own stuff and used obvious DOOM-inspired knock off public domain garbage. Not to mention, they didn't even incorporate them properly. White outlines and inconsistent sprite animation with the monsters movement? More of that slop please! I rather play Corridor 7, Ken's Labyrinth or even Super Noah's Ark 3D. I'm refunding this shìt and taking my 5 bucks elsewhere. Update: Developer responded to my review and I never laughed so hard at the level of ignorance this "solo indie-dev guy" has shown. I dunno what me playing "big studio titles" have to do with anything, but if you actually looked at my games (instead of the ones I have the most hours in), you'd see I've purchased and played several indie games. And guess what? They were much better than what was made here. Clearly you're not able to take any kind of criticism and just keep making excuse after excuse which doesn't even help your case (nor does it make sense). Just makes you look dumb more than anything. By the way, bought Slay the Spire with that 5 bucks I refunded, which SURPRISE SURPRISE is an indie game. In the words of Heavy; "CRY SOME MOOOORE!!!"
If I wanted to play a laggy port of Doom, I'd boot up a PS1. The monsters look like the imps from Doom with added accessories to "make them look different." It runs badly, and I have no idea why. Weapons run out of ammo faster than I asked for a refund. Edit: Years later and the developer replies, and implies I don't know how to play boomer shooters. I grew up with them. I know what a secret room is. Try again. Also, I've seen a pattern of comments saying the same thing about the game lagging. I doubt it's an issue with the players, so much as it is optimization.
In Shoomer Booter you step into the shoes of a bearded soy boy who after discovering an ancient beard ointment dreams of becoming a Sumerian warrior each night. Armed with classic weapons for FPS games you battle through pixel-art levels filled with several enemies. The dynamic fights and modern lighting add a refreshing touch to the retro FPS style in the game. If you're a fan of boomer shooters, this game offers a nostalgic yet modern experience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZN0ozh1wy-8
The pause menu does not function. Esc pulls the menu up and blurs the background, but the game continues in the background and you also continue controlling the main character. Esc also does not close the menu so you have no option but to ctrl+alt+del the program.
Basic boomer shooter that’s fine by itself, but doesn’t stand out from the current deluge of similar titles. Since it goes for the basics, there’s no interesting story. There might be a character or a console in each stage game that gives you some lore and information, but it’s just something to give you a reason for blasting enemies. The font in the game may use some more work. You get a large text box at the bottom of the screen with text pushed all the way to the top when talking with someone. This often results in the majority of the box being underused. Ideally, the text should be positioned in the center of the box. The other problem is that the gradient effect, which makes the letter bright at the top and red at the bottom, makes it difficult to read. This also suggests some inconsistency because there are two ways to solve this issue that are evident in other sections of the game: either the use of a single color or a black outline to highlight individual letters. Compared to games where you race through hallways and rooms at breakneck speed, movement and shooting are a little slower in this game. The sprint button is available, but it must be kept pressed all the time. Maybe in the settings, there should be an "always sprint" option for players that prefer faster movement. Stages are a classic mix of different hallways and rooms filled with enemies and items. There are ten stages, and you have to play them in order. Different weapons use different ammo. The other items are health, credits, weapons, and colored keys. Credits let you buy extra ammo, armor and some other stuff from vending machines found at the start of a stage. Since all items add only one unit, lack of ammo is a big problem. It’s a bit unusual that a boomer shooter doesn’t give you enough ammo to blast enemies. I was constantly looking for that one extra bullet hidden in a corner or on an enemy corpse. You have a melee weapon, but killing enemies with that is not fun. There are secrets in stages, but they don't take much effort to find because there aren't any destructible walls or hidden switches. Everything is visible, albeit it appears to be in a difficult-to-reach area. If you’re a completionist, you can see how many secrets and enemies there are in a stage. Sadly, achievements don’t seem to be working. It’s possible to quick save at any time, but the game handles this a bit differently. Here, you create a one-time transport point rather than a traditional save that keeps track of your position and allows you to always go back to it. The save area is removed when you hit quick load, so you'll need to set up a new one. This means you are unable to cheat the game and repeatedly save and load when facing a challenging combat. Weapons are precise, allowing you to kill enemies from across the hall with a shotgun, although they are rather generic. There are pistols, shotguns, miniguns, and so on. None of them have a secondary fire or an intriguing characteristic. They also don't appear threatening or dangerous due to their small textures, which affect the majority of the game's assets. Stages are 3D, but everything else uses 2D sprites. The result is a bit weird because sprites appear to be the same size regardless of where you look at them. So, while an ammo pack appears large from a distance, it is actually quite small when you come up close. Enemies are ordinary demonic things that do not represent a threat on their own, but can quickly kill you if you are trapped in a room with them. Even more so when different kinds are thrown at you at once. Thankfully, they all die fast. Especially when you take out a large number of them with exploding barrels. Sprites typically face the player, making it difficult to tell that they are a 2D image. However, the game is currently experiencing a few challenges with their movement. Enemies can become caught in 3D objects within the environment, slide left and right, which makes them look like cardboard targets in a shooting gallery, or turn to show their lack of "depth". Overall, the whole package works but is pretty basic. It’s still in early access so I’m sure a lot of it will be improved.

It's like Doom in it's Bright Ages Srsly, shoomer, go buy it and boot some stuff.
Its not the most refined Boomer Shooter, and there are plenty of others to play, but for $4.99 you cant go wrong. Simple good fun like all games should be. Seriously though this is one you should visit after youve completed most of the greats.
It looks pretty cool in the videos but, it doesn't feel very good in the hand, something is off and there isn't any feedback or weight to the combat. Also for some reason I can't save any settings that I change. You can pick it up for next to nothing so feel free to try but, I can't recommend it.
