About
Create your own story — manage your party and fortress, explore, craft, forge alliances or become the enemy they fear.
Shards of the Realm is a complex old-school Strategy/Tactical RPG, inspired by the classic X-Com series. It features a living open world and a wide range of deeply interconnected mechanics across both tactical and strategic layers, with over 50 hours of gameplay.
Develop your stronghold, manage workers, trade, build — everything demands smart strategic planning. On the battlefield, a flexible class system, multiclassing, skill synergies, and destructible environments allow for a wide variety of tactical approaches. A deep research and crafting system lets you prepare your squad for any challenge the world throws at you.
No dice rolls or abstractions — real projectiles and physical collisions drive the combat. Positioning, cover, and interaction between units are crucial.
No grid and no fixed number of actions — action points are your only limit. Spend them however you want.
Anything can be used as cover: terrain, trees, even allies or enemies.
Directional armor zones (front, flanks, rear) reward clever flanking and ambushes.
The environment is destructible — blow up cover or open new paths.
Friendly fire is enabled — even melee attacks can harm allies if you're reckless.
Squad of up to 9 fully controllable characters
4 base classes and 8 unique subclasses with distinct playstyle, roles and abilities
Multiclassing support and a skill tree with 60+ active and passive abilities
Deep status effects system with differenct auras, buffs, debuffs, synergies
No "correct" builds — design your heroes your way: classic tank/DPS/support setups or hybrid roles
There’s no loot rain — nearly all gear is hand-crafted via research and production.
Your fortress is the core of your economy, science, recruitment, and crafting
Over 200 various items such as weapons, armors, tools, rings, trading goods to develop and produce
People are your main resource — who goes to the lab, who to the forge, who to the battlefield?
Six NPC factions with their own goals and rivalries. Your choices shape the political map — trade, ally, or wipe them out
Day-night cycle affects visibility on both global and tactical levels
Hidden dungeons with unique rewards and challenges
Demonic Sieges — a global threat and a tactical opportunity. They can destroy your stronghold or help you eliminate a rival
Shards of the Realm is a game where one mistake can cost you everything.
But if you enjoy meaningful decisions, deep mechanics, and a world that reacts to your choices — this is the game for you.

great game real timesink, cannot wait to see where it goes.
I've spent a bit of time in this, really trying to get into it. It's a mix of XCom and Mount & Blade, if I wanted to describe it in the easiest possible way. You have turn-based combat, the gathering of resources, crafting, castle-building(of sorts).. Lots of ingredients to make a fun experience. But, try as I might I simply cannot get into it. The pacing is just off for me. Everything feels so slow to the point I feel like I'm spending the vast majority of my time staring at the screen waiting for the days to go by and characters to heal or production to complete. For me, the time spent vs the progress made just doesn't make this something that works for me. I think there's certainly a game here that could be enjoyed. It's got magic. It's got monsters. The combat is fairly entertaining with the variety of attacks you get and the large assortment of enemies. There are multipliers that you can use to tailor combat to how you like it, making things a bit quicker. Adding buildings to your castle, producing weapons/armor and other stuff is satisfying. But you'll need some patience.
The XCOM successor I didn't know I needed. The timer keeps the pressure up to manage your time well. There's a ton to do, and a lot of systems to juggle, but once you get the hang of it and make real progress (Getting my 6th party member when I finally built my cargo horse was exhilarating), you will find the rhythm to be successful. If you're a gamer who can get over a little jank while they work out the kinks and outdated graphics, then you will probably love it as much as I do.
Для початку не погано, але ще дуже багато над чим треба працювати. Колись гляну ще раз гру. На разі сил й наснаги розробнику цієї інді РПГ
A cool game for fans of old-school XCOM but set in a fantasy world. Despite the roughness of early access, you can already see the depth of build-crafting possibilities. But answer me this: why do we have to gather hides in the mines?
A dark, story-rich RPG with strong tactical combat and great worldbuilding. Some clunky systems and bugs hold it back, but it’s worth checking out for fans of classic fantasy games. ✔️7/10 + Deep lore + Strategic battles – UI needs work – Some rough edges
And don't forget to Subscribe to my Youtube

Join my Steam Group
22 hours played so far and I'm enjoying it. The crafting system and combat are excellent. Like any Early Access, it's buggy as hell, but it's a lot of fun.
Game with clear potentials. But it need work first.
Strongly recommend this game. What a nice little surprise this was. I played the demo not expecting much but after an hour or so I was totally hooked, and when the demo ended it took me all of 5 minutes to purchase the early access. Tons of stuff to do, really non linear game play. very nice to be able to go do stuff and explore as you wish. Some events pop up that are time limited but still ample time to do what you want. One thing I will say is when you start out after you make your avatar if you don't like the party that auto generates just restart immediately and get something that more suits your tastes. For me I made a Male Orc Beserker, and my party gave me all Orcs 3 beserkers 1 Protector. I was like hmm Ok guess in early access the main toon sets the stage for the group, but this is not the case. And also know that it's perma death you can lose your main character easily, it was only after this happened and i restarted did i see the different party setup auto generate. But hey the game is amazing i can't stop playing, sure there are a few bugs but hey is an indie early access and the dev is doing many updates/fixes, and im sure once the game gets fleshed out I will totally rock, even more than it does now, Do yourself a favour for the low price you can't go wrong on this.
