Really enjoyed this one. It's a huge product of its time and Lo Wang would probably get Twitter-cancelled instantly nowadays, but honestly I found a lot of his stupid one-liners funny. ("Who wanta some Wang?") The weapons are great, the Easter eggs are funny, and the DLCs are surprisingly good. Wonton Destruction being recovered lost media is also pretty cool (even though in some parts you can tell it was unfinished, like that secret level that skips most of the DLC). Twin Dragon was neat because you can still find signatures from the old PlanetQuake modding teams (Level Infinity and Weel the Productions) on some textures, which gave it a weirdly personal feel knowing these maps were made by people staying up all night creating them out of passion. YAPPING STARTS NOW
What I find very interesting is that when you play something like Twin Dragon and see those signatures on walls and textures, you're effectively seeing a snapshot of a very specific moment in internet history. These weren't usually professional developers. They were often teenagers, college students, or hobbyists spending absurd amounts of time learning level editors, making art, testing maps, and coordinating over forums and IRC. The point is: somebody stayed up until 2 AM in 1998 making this room, signed their name on a texture, and had no idea someone would still be playing it nearly 30 years later. To me, that's actually something with a bit of emotional value. I even did some digging with the Wayback Machine and found Level Infinity's old website hosted on PlanetQuake. Seeing their final announcement about the team's dissolution genuinely made me curious. What happened to CD Warrior (the "CEO" of Level Infinity according to their website)? What happened to the other level designers? They're probably all in their fifties by now, but I still can't help wondering. If CD Warrior is somehow reading this, and you're still gaming passionately after all these years, cheers. Thanks for the maps
YAPPING OVER The only thing that drags it down is the level design in the base game. Some maps are awesome (the carpet ride level rules), but others have you wandering around forever looking for keys or solving puzzles that make absolutely no sense. The DLCs are a lot less confusing in that regard. Good job, Level Infinity. Overall, if you like old-school boomer shooters, it's an easy recommendation. Also, screw Randy Pitchford.
You no mess with Lo Wang! OLD BUT [G]OLD
Whoo wanta some Wang? (It does crash a lot on quickload after Episode 1 though. Please fix.)
fun and amazing levels
Antihéroe caracterizado por un humor irreverente, uso intensivo de katanas y armas de fuego, y una mentalidad inestable... Deadpool? NO. es su primo hermano Lo Wang, alias Shadow Warrior. JUE-GA-LO.
Aged like milk. The most confusing level layouts. Duke Nukem 3D is better IMO
Performance is terrible
Absoluter Klassiker und ist Duke Nukem auf jeden Fall vorzuziehen :D
Bro they are really leaving a real remaster for this lying on the ground waiting for someone to pick it up
It's pretty good, but I wish there was "Vanilla" option... or "Chocolate" if you say.
