Fantastic successor to Hajj Trail, which I played at the recommendation of an Ottoman art history professor in undergrad. Very much looking forward to the full game, and very much impressed with what's come out so far. The jump mechanics might benefit from a little tweaking; I fell a lot trying to get from the lower moving platform to the higher stationary one during the dream sequence. That's really the closest thing I have to a critique of the demo so far. Keep up the great work, Dr. Kynn!
One of the most unique visual styles I've seen for any game. It's got such a cool premise and lots of cool anecdotes from historical ottoman times. It's a demo so it's short and has some jank (especially the last scene) but has a lot of promise. Definitely pick this up if you're in any way interested in ottoman or islamic history. It's also free so why not?

A little underrated gem, it is really fun learning about the Ottoman Empire/Islamic history and other stuff as we travel to Mecca (although at this time we can only travel to Sarajevo for now). I absolutely love the art; Ottoman painting is very beautiful. Islamic histories are always underrated; I wish more people would make games based on them. I don't like much the font for the dialogues, but after a while I get used to it. It's also free, so yeah, just check it out; if you don't like it, you only lose your time. If you are interested and want to learn about the journey of the hajj and Islamic history. Then, you are in the right game.
I just finished the first day of the journey in this game. It is a atypical, story-driven pseudo-side scroller type of caravan RPG. I am still learning the controls (using keyboard for now) and how to play, view stats of caravan as a whole, change settings - there is a little bit of a learning curve. It's a little dialogue-heavy and text only, including tutorials. If you are sometimes not a careful reader, like me, or neglect to read a tutorial when prompted (I did this a lot initially because i didn't realize they were different tutorials) you may miss something... All that said, it is a beautiful, quirky, wonderful game. It has an old school vibe but everything looks fabricy and textured, which is really appealing, So far, the background music seems pretty simple and loops. I think it's possible if it continues this way that it might annoy me. Sound effects are minimal but fun. The story is unique and the setting is immersive. When you encounter people or places that folks may not be familiar with, you have the option to learn more about these things, which is neat and doesn't take you too far out of the game. So far it seems like you get to make choices that impact playthrough, but id have to play all the way through and play again to know for sure. I haven't gotten involved in a combat situation yet, but I have had to make decisions about who to keep in my caravan, and did things that increased and decreased stats. As a Muslim currently unable to make hajj (inshallah this changes one day) and who may never be able to make hajj, following this young lady's journey, learning about an unusual historical/cultural/environmental setting that isn't usually featured in games, Muslim or not, and having the opportunity to learn more about all this is a priceless experience. May Allah (swt) reward you for your efforts. I do not know if I will ever get to make Hajj for real. Something like this may be as close as I ever get. I can't wait to learn this game a little better and complete it. Inshallah you get to continue to develop it. Thank you for making it accessible to people for free. I do think non-Muslims would enjoy this game as well. The graphics and feel and setting and premise are all interesting enough to appeal to pretty much anyone. This isn't the type of game I play a lot but I still am enjoying it so I think that says something. Will try to update this review as I progress.
*Seyahat: A Journey to Mecca* is like hopping into a time machine powered by hummus and hilarity! As you navigate the bustling streets of the 17th-century Ottoman Empire, you’ll find yourself dealing with characters that are as colorful as a spice market explosion. One minute, you’re chatting up a wise old merchant with a mustache so grand it deserves its own Instagram account, and the next, you’re caught in a debate with a vendor who insists his dates are better than a bad pick-up line! The artwork is straight out of a storybook, which makes every scene feel like a vibrant postcard from the past—if only the animations didn’t look like they were done by your cousin who just discovered how to use a computer. I mean, who knew historical figures could look so confused? As you embark on this quirky adventure, you’ll encounter mysteries, magic, and more than a few moments that will have you chuckling. It’s a delightful mix of culture and chaos, where you’re just trying to get to Mecca but end up sidetracked by a chicken that seems to be plotting something. So, if you’re in the mood for a history lesson wrapped in a cozy blanket of absurdity, grab your virtual sandals and dive into *Seyahat*. Just be careful not to trip over your own feet while you’re laughing!
Игра "Seyahat: A Journey to Mecca" — это не просто игра, а настоящее погружение в духовное путешествие.
Love it.
