Jeu d'exploration rigolo où l'on doit retrouver 7 bouteilles dans la nuit. Heureusement, il y a des personnages aux dialogues décalés qui nous donnent des indices.
不找到瓶子就会死的奇怪世界
《Sepan and the Seven Flasks》是一款基于时间机制的冒险游戏,角色需要赶在时间结束前,寻找到丢失的圣瓶,否则就会挂掉。
Sepan and the Seven Flasks is one of those rare indie projects that feels completely unconcerned with traditional genre expectations, instead embracing chaos, experimentation, internet humor, psychological mystery, and arcade-style creativity with absolute confidence. Developed and published by PicMid, the game constantly shifts between tones and gameplay styles in ways that should theoretically feel incoherent, yet somehow manage to create an experience that is strangely immersive and memorable. At one moment, the game behaves like a goofy retro comedy packed with absurd dialogue and bizarre mini-games. Moments later, it suddenly transforms into something unsettling and psychologically uncomfortable, filled with eerie environments, mysterious entities, and lingering existential questions that quietly distort the player’s understanding of the world. The result is a surreal indie adventure that often feels less like a conventional game and more like wandering through a strange internet dream where comedy, horror, nostalgia, and emotional unease all exist simultaneously. The story centers around Sepan, a peculiar protagonist chosen by the mysterious Holy Flask to recover the legendary Seven Flasks of Power scattered throughout an increasingly bizarre world. On the surface, the setup sounds intentionally ridiculous, almost parodying classic fantasy-adventure structures with its overdramatic magical artifacts and cryptic mission objectives. However, the deeper players progress into the game, the more unsettling the world becomes. Strange questions constantly emerge without clear answers. Why does reality itself feel unstable? Why are the people inhabiting this world behaving so strangely? What exactly is the distant scream echoing through the darkness? Most importantly, why does the Holy Flask itself seem vaguely suspicious despite presenting itself as a helpful guide? The game rarely provides direct explanations, preferring ambiguity and surreal atmosphere over traditional storytelling clarity. This approach creates a dreamlike sense of uncertainty where players are never entirely sure whether the world is comedic, horrifying, or both simultaneously. One of the game’s greatest strengths is its unpredictable tone. Many indie games attempt to combine comedy and horror, but Sepan and the Seven Flasks handles the transition between those extremes in a uniquely unstable way. The game might spend several minutes delivering ridiculous internet jokes, absurd conversations, or intentionally silly mini-games before suddenly introducing genuinely unsettling imagery or emotionally strange moments that feel psychologically disturbing. This instability becomes one of the game’s defining qualities because it constantly keeps players uncertain about what kind of experience they are actually playing. The cheerful pixel-art world and humorous dialogue create a false sense of safety that the game repeatedly disrupts through eerie atmosphere, unexplained mysteries, and occasional horror-inspired sequences. That unpredictability gives the adventure a unique emotional rhythm that few indie games manage to replicate successfully. Visually, the game embraces a retro-inspired pixel-art aesthetic mixed with surreal environmental design and exaggerated character animations. The world constantly feels colorful and distorted in ways that reinforce its strange tone. Some environments appear playful and nostalgic, resembling old-school top-down RPGs or internet flash games from earlier eras of indie development. Other areas become unexpectedly eerie through subtle lighting changes, unnatural environmental details, and atmospheric effects that quietly transform familiar spaces into something psychologically uncomfortable. Despite the simplicity of the pixel-art presentation, the game succeeds at creating surprisingly memorable environments because of how creatively it uses color, sound, and visual contrast to manipulate mood. The retro visual design also gives the game a strong sense of identity. Rather than chasing realism or highly polished modern indie aesthetics, Sepan and the Seven Flasks fully commits to its weird low-resolution style and internet-inspired personality. The environments often feel handcrafted in the best possible way, filled with strange details, hidden jokes, unusual NPCs, and bizarre interactive moments that reward exploration. The world constantly feels alive with chaotic creativity, as though the developer simply kept adding every strange idea that seemed entertaining regardless of whether it fit traditional design conventions. Gameplay revolves around exploration and an enormous variety of mini-games woven directly into the adventure itself. Instead of relying entirely on one core mechanic, the game constantly introduces new gameplay ideas as players progress through different areas. Some moments focus on exploration and dialogue, while others suddenly become rhythm challenges, reflex tests, endless runner sequences, quick-time events, or arcade-style reaction games. This constant variety prevents the experience from becoming repetitive because the player is almost always encountering some new mechanic or gameplay gimmick. Certain mini-games feel surprisingly polished and addictive despite their simplicity, especially the rhythm and reaction-based challenges that gradually increase in difficulty over time. The unlockable mini-games themselves are one of the most enjoyable aspects of the package. Activities such as Scooter Run, Dance, Reflex vs. a Dog, and Chain Jumps all feature their own mechanics, difficulty settings, endless modes, and leaderboard systems. These modes feel like tiny self-contained arcade games hidden within the larger adventure, adding substantial replay value outside the main narrative. The inclusion of both local and global leaderboards also reinforces the arcade-inspired design philosophy by encouraging players to improve their scores and compete for better performances. The game clearly enjoys experimenting with gameplay diversity rather than restricting itself to a single formula. One particularly creative feature is the optional Twitch integration available during certain mini-games. Stream viewers can actively influence gameplay through chat commands, introducing additional chaos and unpredictability into the experience. This feature fits the game’s internet-culture-inspired personality perfectly because Sepan and the Seven Flasks constantly feels connected to online humor, community-driven creativity, and chaotic streaming culture. The inclusion of interactive audience participation demonstrates an understanding of how modern indie games often become social experiences rather than purely solitary adventures. For players who enjoy surreal indie adventures, retro-inspired experimentation, internet-era humor, psychological mystery, and games willing to constantly surprise the player with new ideas, Sepan and the Seven Flasks offers a genuinely unique and memorable experience filled with strange comedy, unsettling atmosphere, and nonstop unpredictability. Its uneven polish, inconsistent pacing, and intentionally chaotic structure prevent it from becoming a universally accessible masterpiece, but the game’s creativity and personality make it stand out strongly within the modern indie scene. The experience ultimately succeeds because it feels completely unconcerned with traditional design rules and instead focuses entirely on being strange, funny, mysterious, and unforgettable in its own deeply unconventional way. Rating: 6/10
A fun little indie, well worth the small investment of money and larger investment of time. I keep seeing both English and French text, so a knowledge of both might help. One suggestion to the developer is to slow down the rate at which the credit screens go by, as I had to take screenshots in order to see everyone and go to the listed web sites.
