Got a few hours into the game so far. I enjoy the fast pace and great colors. Easy controls and one of the coolest tutorials I have seen. It has no limits with the arena mode and is a great challenge doing search and destroy. Fast to pick up and put down on the fly making it a great bit of fun whenever you have a few minutes....or hours.
First impressions are pretty good. The how to play section was clear and to the point, unless you're a game journalist it quickly gives you the necessary information to play the game. In the Arena modes, it's the tried and true "kill til you die" bullet hell style. The randomized buff and weapon drops keep you from the "driving in circles shooting behind you" loop, and the randomized spawns seem well tuned. You'll have a mass of heavy tanks slowly creeping towards you, and when you think you're just about safe from them, the light tanks come swarming in putting you right back on your toes. I personally enjoyed the search and destroy the most though. Reminds me of rifts in Diablo 3. A quick run around on a random map, targeting certain objectives, all the while trying to balance how aggressive you can be without getting killed. On one run, I ended up on a thin bridge, stuck between many heavy tanks that I couldn't fight through until I died. Wait too long playing defensively though, and you may run out of time. The weapon and buff drops laid sparsely throughout also help encourage you to take a bit of time on a side route instead of just sprinting to each individual objective. The final question is always "Is this game worth my money?" and I would say that it is. The gameplay lends itself nicely to replayability, and unlike most modern games now, that seem to have just FIFTEEN BILLION QUESTS, each giving you +1 to some inane and totally arbitrary stat, all this game wants from you is the next high score. It's nice to have a game you can just jump in to without having to plan an entire evening around it. As for why I received the game, I actually work for the mechanic of the dev. He told me his customer had been working on a game, and when he showed it to me I expressed some interest. I had still intended to purchase it on release though.
Senshi Tank 2: Space Bots is a fun fast paced game. If you want to blow off some steam or just get caught up in trying to get a good score. There are a number of enemies to admire, but you will be zooming around blowing them all up. The various types of weapon upgrades ensures you have to think and change tactics on the fly. Do you take the shotgun blast ammo and get dangerously close? Or do you use the railgun like shot that can kill multiple opponents? The action is smooth and the tempo is upbeat. Considering its from a small developer, Raven About Games and Senshi Tank 2 is a game for gamers, by gamers. The developer is very easy to communicate with and eager for feedback, like any true gamer they want to improve the experience and I look forward to seeing the final product. TLDR: Fun to zoom around and blow stuff up!
Tanks in space! Lol, awesome concept and really fun to play. I’ve been beta testing for a while. The maps constantly change in Search/Destroy keeping me on my toes. I’m a big audio person and really appreciate the detail to the game sounds and music. Nice job! The colors and animations keep me entertained and are good quality. I have a feeling this game is going to be habit forming! Overall, really like it and would recommend. Oh, and LOVE that this game was made by a gamer – super cool! Fun indie game. TLDR: Fun game, keeps you entertained, good graphics/animation/music.
A very well-made game, quite fun and something I play while working! Give this hidden gem a shot!
