Infuriating progression with many obtuse puzzles and a weak story
After Blackrock Manor, I expected something better but this was MUCH more annoying than fun. Let me explain why. The game works like this: You enter a chamber, which contains like 5 disconnected puzzles, all of which you can fiddle with. But you can solve only one or two of them right out of the gate, but you don't know which one, so you are just screwing around all of them trying to figure out which one you are supposed to solve next, often times wasting time on puzzles you literally can't solve yet, doubting yourself in the process. You can't mentally commit to the task when you have that tingling in the back of your head that you might waste your time, even if you are trying the puzzle you CAN and should solve. And when you solve a puzzle you unlock compartments or hints for the next puzzle in the room, often not following any logical or intuitive sequence. Stuff just kinda happens one after an other in a completely arbitrary and random order. There is a story here, but it is very barebones, even more so than in Blackrock and is far less interesting/mysterious. There are some genuinely good puzzles here, but about just as many that are obtuse and generally telegraphed/visually communicated poorly to the player. I completely lost faith in the games design after chamber 2, I had the guide pulled up, just to know which puzzle should come next. It was bearable that way but still not that enjoyable, this was a huge disappointment as I was hyped for this game, especially after Blackrock Manor.
Another solid puzzler game from mc2games. It follows the same line as their other escape room titles: explore a room, solve puzzles and repeat! It doesn’t try to reinvent the genre, but it doesn’t need to. The game does what it sets out to do very well, with a good atmosphere and clear puzzle design. If you’ve enjoyed their previous escape room games or in general you like adventure puzzler games, this one is definitely worth playing too. I’m always happy to support this kind of work.
I had a good time with this one. It’s a straightfoward escape room game with a fantasy castle setting, some nice enviroments, and plenty of puzzles to work through. The puzzles are mostly about observation and connecting clues, which is exactly what I enjoy in these games. Nothing here feels overly complicated just for the sake of it, and the game has a nice flow once you get into it. I haven’t finished it yet, but I’d say it’s probably around 4-5 hours of gameplay, depending on how fast you solve the puzzles.
Really recommend this if you’re into escape room games. I think I’m about halfway through and I’m having a really good time with it so far. The puzzles are nice and the atmosphere fits well. Feels like the kind of game you can comfortably finish in two or three sittings if you just want to relax and solve some puzzles.
If you’ve got a few hours to spend on a relaxing puzzle game, this is a very nice choice.
I really wanted to like this game. I really liked their other game: Secrets of Blackrock Manor, and the demo seemed interesting. It honestly just failed to hit the mark. If you didn't immediately figure out the solution, then you can just brute force the puzzles with relative ease. The voice acting to me, also just didn't hit the mark, and honestly felt like someone was just reading a script.
Really liked this puzzle game! Wishlisted it after playing BiriBiri´s last escape room game, so happy to see another interesting game with an intriguing style. Nice animation too. Recommend it
I liked this game quite a bit. Puzzles were challenging, yet fair, and quite original relaying a lot in observation. If you like escape room games but you are tired of solving the same old puzzles every game has, definitely give this game try.
