Scrapland was the first proper video game I've ever played. I am not a fan of the futuristic genre, but this game's charm has earned it a dear place in my heart. I like the fact that the game builds its unique world but that it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's wacky and fun all throughout and to this day has one of the best ship and fighting mechanics I've ever seen. There are plenty of minigames to keep you entertained if you want to take a quick step back from the main story line and there's exploration value in all of the maps as well. I wish the remastered delivered more than just a retexture, but that's about all you'd expect from remasters these days. I hope more people discover this game so that we may get a sequel someday.
I have an obsession with the video games released between the years 2000 and 2006. Nostalgia is definitely a big factor that influences my perception of it, but I do believe that it had something that no other generation did either before or after: it was a perfect middle-ground between raw performance power and project scope. Unlike what came before it, the hardware was strong enough that a team could reasonably implement their ideas with few restrictions, allowing them to give flesh to all (or at the very least most) of their ideas. Unlike what came after it, it wasn't so powerful that to the point that a studio had to work on a project for more than half a decade, and therefore release a game in a reasonable time frame of 2 and half/ 3 years Again, a middle ground, and this obsession with this middle ground makes me actively seek and intensely talk about experiences I never witnessed first-hand from this era, an era of vintage lighthearted adventures, from which came Scrapland Hear the rest on YouTube
I Just Love it, it was one of the First Games ive ever played. Revisited it now almost 20 years later and i still love it. In dire need for a sequel.
The top shelf of what McGee had to offer. Game oozes with charm and personality. While every gameplay element isn’t utilized to its full potential, as they could serve as an game of their own with proper expansion. Instead are more like side activities. Never the less everything create lovely mix of action adventure goodness from the past.
A super fun game and lots of nostalgia, also the soundtrack is this game is fantastic and stands completely on it's own merit. The mix of drum and bass combined with a string orchestra evoking the sounds of the flight of the bumble bee, the music really carries the sense scale along with the frantic flying combat. In game dialogue is iconic and memorable, the use of swear bleeps adds to the humor greatly and I think its ages well. I really hope the developer has the ability to make the soundtrack available for purchase and download on steam.
Back in the Days i had a very bad PC without Soundcard. Scrapland worked without it. It was an absolute banger in the past and it is still a perfect game. Check it out
