When I first saw the title, I admit I clicked on it because "Weed Crisis" in the name cracked me up. But once I got into it, I realised this game is no joke—it’s somewhat addicting. It's like if Vampire Survivors and a garden gone mad had a love child, and I mean that as a compliment.
About This Game

Storyline
Honestly, the storyline isn’t the star of the show here, but it’s quirky enough to keep you entertained. You play as a girl armed with a pair of scissors, and your mission is to fight off these weird, aggressive weeds that have it out for you. Why are the weeds attacking? Who knows, and honestly, who cares? The game is more about the action and the challenge than about diving deep into a narrative. It’s more like, “Here’s your scissors, go snip those weeds to bits!” And you know what? That’s good enough for me.
Gameplay Mechanics
The gameplay is where Scissor Girl's Weed Crisis really shines. It’s simple to pick up but deceptively challenging to master. The core concept is straightforward: avoid the weeds' attacks, find an opening, and then strike. Sounds easy, right? But here’s the twist—your scissors have their own attack pattern, so you need to time your strikes perfectly. Get it wrong, and you’re in for a world of hurt. The game is brutal in the best way possible. You can die quickly if you’re not careful, and the invincibility frames after getting hit? They only protect you from the same attack that hit you. So if you get caught in a flurry of attacks, you could be toast before you even realise what happened. One of the cool mechanics is the life regain system. Every time you kill an enemy, you get some health back. But—and this is a big but—the enemies don’t just disappear when you take them down. Instead, they turn into ghostly versions of themselves and keep coming at you with the same attack patterns. So, the longer you play, the more chaotic and stressful it gets. It’s like a never-ending battle of "how long can I survive this madness?" And then there’s the blocking mechanic. You can block attacks if you time it right, which adds another layer of strategy. It’s not just about slashing away at everything—you need to think on your feet, or in this case, on your fingers.
Visuals and Audios
Visually, the game has this simplistic hand-drawn, almost retro vibe to it. The character designs are simple but effective, and the weed enemies have enough variety to keep things interesting. There are over twenty different types of weed enemies, each with their own attack patterns and ranges, so the visuals do a great job of keeping you on your toes. The audio? It’s not really good. The sound effects get really repetitive after a while as you constantly hear the same sounds over and over again. I would suggest doing a rework regarding this game’s sound design.
Pros

Addicting gameplay that’s easy to learn but tough to master.
The variety of weed enemies keeps the game fresh and challenging.
The life regain mechanic gives you a fighting chance, even when things get tough.

Cons

The difficulty might be too much for some players, especially with the ghost enemies.
The visuals and audio aren’t groundbreaking and they could surely use an upgrade.

Conclusion
Scissor Girl's Weed Crisis is one of those games that sneaks up on you. At first, you think it’s going to be a silly, throwaway experience, but then it hooks you with its challenging gameplay and you find yourself saying, “Just one more try,” over and over again. It’s a game that’s easy to pick up and play, but mastering it? That’s a whole different story. If you’re into games that test your reflexes and your patience in equal measure, give this one a shot. Just be prepared to have those weeds get the better of you more times than you’d like to admit. Rating: 6.5/10 I thought Weed meant something else…
