About
The game runs in the background by default, so you can automate tasks for a while and use the materials after(this can be changed in settings if you desire the game to pause when you minimize it). There are no dangers in the game, no Snakes will die or flee the ranch if they are not fed, they will simply not shed their Scales at the end of the day, so there is no rush or impending doom to be solved.

As a small dragon, raise your ranch from the ground up. Gather and manage resources, build different facilities to house your snakes and make sure they are cared for to keep them happy and collect their beautiful scales.

Each one of the buildings can house different types of snakes and each one sheds a different scale. Their scales can be used to construct new buildings, craft better tools and equipment or be sold for gold. From horned snakes, to ones with wheels and even wings, there will be plenty of slithering friends to make.
Even a very motivated and talented dragon cannot do it all on their own. Most of the species of snakes can help you manage your ranch, be it by helping you feed other snakes, carrying their scales to storages, felling trees, hunting for food, forging new equipment and even cooking.

Send your fighter and gatherer snakes to explore new lands and collect rare resources and food. Some of the areas will be underwater or high in the sky and others will be too hot or too cold. Equip your scaly explorers to help them battle the elements or employ specialized species to get the job done.

Take time into account and make sure your snakes needs are met each day. Be prepared for weather that can affect your snakes work and changing seasons that bring new mechanics to the mix.

Build a lab and with the help of your snakes, perform research to unlock new types of snakes, buildings and improvements for your ranch.

Choose from a variety of decorative items and add your own style to your ranch. Just because you are scaling up, doesn’t mean you cannot do a glow up instead.

Truthfully I don't think this game should have full released. There are so many bugs from visual ones of snakes just persisting in a spot even though you can see them moving around somewhere else, to pathing/programming. Example, I have a tender snake's temple right next to where the crimson snakes are and the only way to get it to actually do its job is to manually assign it each time even though I have more than enough meat. The python snake is also quite buggy, buildings all around it and it just endlessly sits there with an exclamation point above its head. Would also like to see them add in hover tooltips for things since they are basically non-existent. It almost seems like they didn't want to mark the game as early access despite the fact that it very much is. Until they put in a bit more effort here I can't really say I would recommend this game to anyone.
You are a Dragon. A Dragon who raises your legless and usually wingless cousins, the snakes. You build them comfy places to sleep, gather fish for them to eat, and clean up after them. In return you can task them with also gathering resources and making things. I'm a bit inefficient at the game and haven't unlocked all the snakes yet but so far they've all been adorable! I like to a new resource area unlocked, my snakes sent in and then let them do their thing while I read or continue clearing trees and rocks so I can have even MORE snakes to love.
Wonderful, cute and cozy colony sim with lots and lots of snakes to unlock and collect. The progression feels satisfying and fun to engage with, and the game strikes a great balance of not being too punishing and keeping some classic city builder challenge. Not having enough food won’t kill your snakes, but they will work less efficiently and won’t produce scales, which is a valuable resource for progression. It effectively slows progression until you can sort your city, but without ever getting stressful to the point the game loses its cozy charm. As you build your snake ranch, things become much more automated, allowing it to be a perfect second screen game if you want, but is just as engaging to be actively played. The game also allows for running while minimized if you don’t have a second screen and want to get some work done while your snakes run your little city!
IT's a cute game, but it just wasn't finished before it was released. It has SO many bugs. Bugs that halt progress entirely, and I have to stop playing, report the bugs in discord, wait a day for it to get fixed, and then I can continue playing. On top of that, the game encourages multiple playthroughs by having you unlock new maps/characters, but they are all super grindy and late unlocks, and the game has zero replayability, so it's basically just a bunch of things you won't actually get to enjoy being gatekept from you, because by the time you unlock them, you're done with the game, you've seen all the content.
Very charming game out of the gate, looking forward to playing more!
Charming little title! I think I could play this game for hours just to enjoy the music and the cozy theme. You can see that developers poured their heart in many details, and impressive work for such small team =)
How can I *not* love such a cute game about being a dragon raising snakes? This game perfectly scratches the level of "there's so many things I want to do and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do them all and even though there's no real time pressure I *want* to do this as efficiently as possible."
It's really, really fun, and worth your time. The tutorial is pretty good, but take it slowly - it will put an objective in front of you that's a little further out than it might seem, and while it's tempting to rush it, it'll leave you slightly out of your depth. That's what happened to me and I had a rough bump after the tutorial ended where I had no idea what to do or how to get the materials I needed to upgrade buildings. But it's not a punishing game - rather, it's OK to mess up for a while and figure out how to make it work. Unlike other colony sims which spiral mistakes into a nosedive, here, it's a lot gentler. That's the "cozy" part of it, which I didn't realize at first. I played it more intensely, like I had to instantly upgrade to the next tier of materials... but you don't actually have to rush anything. Your snakes' needs don't ever expand without you willingly moving forwards in the tech tree when you choose to. And even then, I found it pretty easy to keep up with everything. Two well-geared gladiators farming the first area and two fishers provided ample, AMPLE food for my snakes - nobody has ever gone hungry in my snanch (snake ranch)! Basically - don't panic! Everything will be alright. Expand and upgrade as you please. The art is really cute and endearing, and the sound design is lovely. The noises of your little snakes working is never annoying, and the music is chipper and cute but fades nicely into the background and isn't annoying at all. Each snake is very distinct and adorable. A lot of them look very silly when donning helmets and armor, but it's honestly pretty charming. The UI is pretty good. I think my only real complaint is that gathering snakes require a ton of micromanagement. I would love to, say, draw an area on the ranch for 'clearing' and have any unassigned gathering snakes go clean up any trees, rocks, and fibers in that area. As it is I have to assign them individually to individual rocks and trees, which is tedious. It's also a bit tedious that snakes can only equip one tool and are then locked into only using that tool ever, unless you go through a lot of clicking and buttons to swap out their pickaxe for a hammer. And I haven't found a way to move snakes between houses, so if you need to demolish a house for any reason, all the EXP you invested into those snakes poofs. But overall this is a lovely, lovely game, and actually well worth the asking price. I think anyone can get a lot of enjoyment out of these systems - it's pleasing to see it all work, and I admire how well the devs tried to make the core loop and progression easy but not mind-numbing. Colony sims are really hard to balance well especially when aiming for a gentler slope and this was done super well. Also, like, it's just so cute. That's a ton of appeal.
Point 1: This game makes me happy. Point 2: It is a good city builder. Really solid. It can certainly use more future content and bug fixes which the Dev is already rolling out. I fully recommend this one.
