Who else is here because of LGR?
It's a fun idea, definitely. I just don't understand why you would use DirectX11 for this instead of a cross-platform API like OpenGL that would work on Linux and macOS as well.
A truly wonderful labor of love for the grandfather of all city-builders. The painstaking attention to detail made in translating the 2D art to 3D for each tile, from the most complex Arcologies to the humblest residential zone, is incredible.

This is the best thing to happen to SimCity since the Rush Hour DLC for SC4.
Mr Krimsky is the next hottest thing to the sun, mad props to him for making sc2renderer to the masses.
It is what it says it is: a free program that lets you view 3D renders of cities built in SimCity 2000, the classic 1993 citysim. It's an admirable effort to give the decades-old title a fresh perspective, and definitely a must-have for enthusiasts of the game, though it's still kind of bare-bones. That's not a flaw, because we're lucky to have the program to begin with; it's just lacking features compared to its non-Steam counterpart TiledCityViewer by Kéri Zoltán. TiledCityViewer is arguably superior at this time since it has a number of features SC2KRender lacks, such as building textures, a day/night cycle, and moving traffic. A lot of that stuff is listed on SC2KRender's store page as future plans, so we'll see what happens.
Awesome program! I started playing Sim City 2000 again because of this.
I've always wanted to live next to a Darco, now all I can ask for is a Darco in the nighttime fog.
Very cool program, would be very interesting to see OpenGL/Vulkan integration and shaders
