tl;dr if you've never played Sacred 2 before and are interested in playing a very unique open-world ARPG with a mostly light-hearted/comedic tone, worth a buy. I would argue that this remaster was released very unfinished (and still needs improvement) which is definitely worth critique. As it stands, save for the UI being less artistically creative, this is generally a fine remaster (in that you can run the game out of the box without immediate game-breaking issues at this point). There is no fixed minimap/orientation as the game doesn't (yet?) have a "face north" hotkey or a way to lock the minimap, so the player will need to orient themselves accordingly, as well as bugs related to pathfinding (still!), easily visible from certain NPCs floating sometimes (pathfinding issues) or the player glitching when near bodies of water. However the Remaster also comes bundled with the original Sacred 2 Gold, which is good because it allows the original to be preserved, and those curious to play the "definitive" version of the game by playing it with the Community Patch + Enhanced Edition. This is probably the biggest difference between the two, even counting pathfinding issues- the original has a large amount of community content that improves the game subtly and more dramatically, which the Remaster lacks. New players likely won't be (and shouldn't be) too concerned, but obviously enthusiasts will rightly feel no reason to change.
The original version of Sacred 2 (which is included when you buy the Remaster) is still the best way to play the game. My thoughts on Sacred 2 Remaster: It plays really well on Steam Deck, so I appreciate the new UI and added controller support. I haven’t experienced any crashing on my Deck or PC, but there are some minor bugs I’ve noticed. Nothing gamebreaking, so I hope the devs keep it up with the updates. At a quick glance the config files are 99% the same as the original so if people want to edit the balance of the game they are still able to.
I hadn't really played the original much so I don't have nostalgia for it. With that said this game is super fun. You can see a game like Grim Dawn getting inspiration from it. I don't understand the negative reviews because I've been having a blast playing this. If you like Titan Quest or Grim Dawn then pick this up, its a no brainer especially on sale.

This "Remaster" is not worth your money. The original Sacred 2 Gold can be played without issue, if you use the available community patches etc. Furthermore, the "Remaster" removed key features present in the original. In that regard, it can be considered a step back from the original. What I consider even more enfuriating is that they now allow you to only buy the original Sacred 2 Gold in a bundle with the "Remaster". This is utter rudeness from the producers. I tried to get a refund for the Remaster and they wanted to remove the orginal as well! In this regard, I feel cheated out of my money. Luckily, I bought it when it was on sale, so I didn't waste too much money on this abomination of an attempted "remaster". The only good thing I can say about the "remaster" is that it runs smoothly on my PC. But this can be achieved with the original as well, if you take the time to install communtiy patches.
Залупа полная!
This game is great. I played on xbox but I play on pc more so I bought it through steam. I will add that the reviews put me off. The reviews for the remaster arent great, people complaining yet the reviews for the gold version seem to be way more positive, with the top review being a run through on how to get the game to work. I tried both versions and for me, this version is far better. Mainly because it allows the use of a controller. The other version doesn't. The other version also crashed and has no achievements. I'll start with the positive: -Full rotation of camera whenever you want and as you zoom in, it kinda makes the game seem like a third person type game. -Each class has their own variety of armours and skills. -In the character select screen you can choose whether you be a goody two shoes or a baddie. -Big map. -good sound design. -many quests. -freedom to go where ever you want right from the get go. Not locked into a path or anything. -Good enemy variety. -Good weapon variety. Cons: -some graphical glitches like a grey wall in the middle of a dungeon that I can't see behind (only happened once and it also dissapeared once I stepped past it). -Inventory is clunky when trying to navigate it with an analogue stick. -No voice acting for the side quest givers. -Bad skill controls with no way to remap it since it's more about how you activate the skills not the button you push for it. May add to this the more I play. But so far I like it
