Play as a shrimp. You won't regret it
As much as I would love to say i like the game, I cant, this somehow managed to tick me off more than Getting Over it, the overall look and sound are amazing, but oh my lord the movement makes me just not want to continue, it feels like you have to be some physics major with the velocity you actually go at, because this needs more timing than anything else i've played, overall a great game but i cant stand the movement and it really makes me just not want to play it at all.
Honestly, this game has so much love and effort put into it. Sure the movement may be a little wonky at times, but it's a new game and still a little rough around the edges. I highly recommend this if you're into weird movement mechanics, difficult platforming, and a horror experience that just straight makes my, (and hopefully your) skin crawl.
This game is so good, I can't even play it.
This game clearly has a ton of potential and I did follow the developer's journey with the game on tiktok for a good while. At the current standpoint I would not recommend the game, but I could fully say yes to recommending the game if the following issues were fixed, because as it stands I cannot even get past the 2nd block puzzle after you push the ice at the start of the game -Some of the collision detection will have you hit a hit box before you are on the ice/platform/box, and when on top of boxes or ice you can occasionally push them around by just walking on top of it -Physics are still very wonky and weird, holding a box still causes boxes to fly with collision detection -Partial game pad integration is weird, you can use the control sticks to move yourself and the camera, and press a to jump, but you still need to use e to interact and click the buttons -There is a lot of text falling out of buttons, and on the settings menu from the title screen the full screen and windowed mode button over lap -In the pause menu the text on the left side of the screen overlaps itself -The inability to change controls/customize controls -The shrimp is extremely fast which is fine, I could absolutely deal with that, however the camera movement is very sharp. However this game 100% does have potential it just needs some controls, physics, text, and collision detection fixes as far as I can see. The game's graphics are good and even when slinging around boxes I didn't see any of the textures break to my knowledge, the music is very good as well and so are the shaders. Graphically in my opinion I feel like this came is gorgeous. I feel like this game would be amazing to play with the fixes for those issues. And maybe a different color for the game font, magenta and bright yellow are a little jarring for the atmospher. Just a pet peeve thing to, I don't like having to hit continue to finish a line of tutorial when I could just hit finish, in the same spot as the next button.
oh man i really wanted to like this game. I followed the developer on tik tok and I became super excited for this game... but it's so hard to enjoy this. The concept and art style are super good and very unique, but the physics and momentum really bring this game down. It's super hard figuring out what to do, the physics and stacking blocks is super janky, and your shrimp has this weird momentum where you need a bit of a run in order to jump in a certain direction. But once you're moving in that jump, you can't really change directions. I know I played only for a little amount but the pure pain of the physics made it so annoying. Also the blocks just kept spinning making it super atrocious to stack. Obviously this is a big project for someone and I don't want to trash on their work. I will probably re buy this game in the future to see if some things have been slightly tweaked, but as of now I can't really enjoy this game. I JUST WANTED TO BE A SPOOKED SHRIMP. (edit) also the game opens up in steam VR for some odd reason.
You need fast reflexs for sure as movement speed is very fast. I love the soundtrack and the atmosphere. Also press "h", the sqished shrimp looks funny and I'm so thankful it made it into the final cut. (edit) I'm and idiot, don't listen to me, the h thing has been the root of my problems, messes with the physics
This game is some of the most fun I've had in a video game in awhile, it is very refreshing after playing all the games that keep coming out that are exactly alike. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a very fun challenge.
This might be the best game I have ever played. The story is just absolutely the best part, and the character development S H R i M P goes through is just tragic. Absolutely phenomenal, and truly heartbreaking. Though if anyone knows where the last car is in level 2 it would be very appreciated. I have been playing for many hours and I still can't find it, and although I have been soaking in the atmosphere and the stunning world of S H R i M P (Which might be even realer than real life!!), the wandering around throughout the level is making me queasy. I'll continue doing it if no one can help me, but I'd appreciate some assistance from a fellow S H R i M P I T E. :))
