cool! I like it/
A hack-and-slash indie game with a twist While it has its shortcomings of a VERY indie production, the overall experience is highly enjoyable. Grab your axe and dive into this dwarven adventure, you won't be disappointed! Note: it is coded by the guy behind Death Trash
I'm just putting a bad review because the dev never fixed the Google play achievements in the OG release of Runic Rampage on Android. Like really dude, don't put "platinum" achievements in your games before making sure to double check your code, it was annoying to 100% the game some time ago and getting all of the achievements minus the "platinum" one. I just hope I can finally 100% the achievements here.
I am dwarf warrior
A nice little game with suprisingly deep combat and variety in money management. It's not an absolute masterpiece but I had a good time beating it. Some of the achievements require hours of grinding though. A shame that armours are just for looks. I want to believe that that whole nostalgic early-Blizzard visual vibe is a love letter to the simplier times :)
Runic Rampage, developed and published by Electrocosmos, is a gritty indie action RPG that embraces the raw, old-school spirit of hack-and-slash dungeon brawlers while layering in procedural variety and light role-playing progression. The game places you in the role of Grimbard, a furious dwarf warrior on a personal crusade to recover the shattered fragments of a powerful rune stone that once safeguarded his homeland. This simple but effective narrative framework provides a clear motivation for the relentless combat and forward momentum that define the experience, grounding the action in a classic fantasy revenge tale rather than elaborate world-building. Combat is the unquestionable centerpiece of Runic Rampage, and it wastes little time getting to the point. From the first encounter, the game emphasizes close-quarters brutality, with heavy melee strikes that feel weighty and aggressive. Weapons slam into enemies with satisfying force, splattering blood and reinforcing the dwarf’s raw physicality. Encounters are often dense, throwing groups of enemies at the player and encouraging constant movement, positioning, and crowd control. Boss fights punctuate progression with more demanding encounters that test stamina management, timing, and spatial awareness, acting as skill checks rather than puzzle-driven spectacles. While enemy variety is somewhat limited, the sheer volume and pacing of combat help maintain intensity. Progression systems are intentionally straightforward, reinforcing the game’s focus on action rather than complex stat management. As you advance, you earn gold, experience, and skill points that can be invested in improving damage output, survivability, and special abilities. Equipment upgrades and talismans further enhance your build, offering small but meaningful customization choices. Elemental effects such as fire, poison, and frost add a tactical layer to combat, subtly influencing how fights unfold without overwhelming the player with mechanics. This balance makes progression accessible, though it also means players looking for deep RPG systems may find the customization relatively shallow. One of Runic Rampage’s defining design choices is its reliance on procedural generation. Levels are assembled from modular components, ensuring that repeated visits to the same biome never feel entirely identical. Enemy placement, environmental layouts, and combat flow shift from run to run, encouraging adaptability rather than memorization. This design greatly enhances replayability, especially for players who enjoy refining combat efficiency and mastering systems through repetition. At the same time, procedural design contributes to occasional pacing issues, as some layouts can feel more rewarding or engaging than others depending on random generation. Visually, the game adopts a utilitarian isometric perspective that prioritizes clarity during chaotic fights. Character models and environments are stylized but functional, allowing players to read enemy movements and attack patterns even when the screen fills with action. Gore effects and exaggerated animations emphasize the game’s brutal tone, while the soundtrack supports the experience with driving, atmospheric tracks that maintain tension without overshadowing the gameplay. Story elements are conveyed through illustrated cutscenes and brief narrative beats, offering flavor and context without slowing the action-heavy pace. The overall experience can occasionally feel grind-heavy, particularly when progression requires revisiting levels to gather enough resources or unlock later challenges. For some players, this reinforces the addictive loop of combat and improvement; for others, it may interrupt narrative momentum. Control precision and balance quirks can also surface during more demanding encounters, where small mistakes are punished quickly. Still, these issues rarely undermine the core satisfaction of combat, which remains consistently engaging. In the end, Runic Rampage is a focused and unapologetic action RPG that thrives on visceral melee combat and procedural replayability rather than narrative depth or mechanical complexity. It doesn’t attempt to redefine the genre, but it executes its vision with clarity and conviction, offering a compact yet intense experience that rewards persistence and aggression. For players who enjoy dungeon brawlers, hack-and-slash combat, and the satisfaction of carving through enemies as a relentless fantasy warrior, it delivers a solid and cohesive adventure that wears its indie identity proudly.
