FUN
greatest runescape of all time
great game
Cool
Game is good for beta. But in many ways some feature are weirdly designed : Menu-ing : Not scrollable hotbar, Inversed controls on divide item stack and transfer item stack. Items & craft : Gear item (rings) that passively lose durability, Crafting stations without output inventory slot, potions that unlock crafts. Gameplay : So few spells, no mouvement spells for close range class, block or dash often trigger with 1 second delay during combat, secondary quests without any direction to go to. Some industry standards are really missing for the moment. That said, mid game is really fun to play, beautiful game overall, construction is very well designed. Hope you will have the chance to differentiate from Enshrouded.
Most of the game is a blast, my main issue is the combat. Standard enemies are too strong, which means if you are fighting multiple at the same time, its incredibly difficult to win an encounter, which wouldnt be an issue if the map wasnt so densely populated that you are constantly running into big groups. It also doesn't help that you cant just run away because ranged enemies are extremely accurate and melee enemies can match your pace, and actually outpace you with their attack animations, meaning you need to actively dodge attacks you often cannot see because you are running away.
10/10
I like this game, i just hate having locked in settings. i play this game solo, wich on standard dificulty means i'm playing with 2 friends apparently. got to the second vault before being stuck in deathloops using all my resources rince and repeat... i understand it might just be skill issue but having to delete my 5h character and world just to difficulty balance just deflates me.
Oh no, not again Runescape. How many hours of my life have been spent playing Runescape at this point. Excellent game so far about a 4/5 in its current state. Pros: *Pricing - is excellent for the amount of hours / content you will get in game, Pretty sure it costs less to buy Runescape than it does to get anything from a fast food place nowadays, which is kind of sad to think about. Except, Runescape wont leave you fat and ashamed. So thats cool. *Design - Being able to play the same character on multiple servers is nothing short of amazing. V Rising, take notes, this is how you do it. *Combat - Genuinely excellent, there is dodging, blocking, parrying all streamlined together and it is consistently fun. The combat is so fun and unique for each different playstyle, Melee combat feels amazing and completely different vs Archers vs Mage's the game is incredible in this regard, easily the most well designed aspect is how good the combat is. *Content - Tons of content with what appears to be a bright future of content ahead *Soundtrack - The musical score is obviously taking notes from Valheim's thematically correct application, and Jagex delivers one of the most beautiful background soundtracks ive ever heard, its definitely going to be one that will invoke memories when heard in the years to come. Cons: * Slightly bottlenecked experience when you progress toward Bronze Gear because Bronze bars are in the same areas as Tier 3 enemies, who are fair to fight only when you are wearing.... Bronze gear haha. --> The obvious solution is that Bronze gear should be obtainable when you enter the swamps (Tier 2 area) so that you are ready for that Tier 3 area. So on so forth. *Melee combat suffers as a result of enemy hit tracking which follows your dodge, this is especially hell when you are fighting multiple enemies which is pretty much every single fight in the game once your out of the Temple Woods. --> The obvious solution is to make enemies unleash their attack in the area you were last located when their attack finishes charging its final animation. ESPECIALLY ARCHERS. Enemy archers will literally shoot you through their own allies bodies which will hit stun you and leave you exposed to being pummeled by 10000000000000000 dudes. This is something I'm surprised hasnt been Quality Assurance tested even prior to early access release. Does anyone even use a Quality Assurance team anymore or do they just ship it and let the players do it? As a melee main, who refuses to play anything else my combat is basically like this: (Attack once, Dodge, Attack again, Dodge, Attack one more time, Dodge) Because as soon as I get hit, its usually by multiple enemies at the same time which is a 1-2 shot kill in melee. My recommendation now is, do what I do and suffer until we are so good at the game that Dark Souls bosses will cry in our presence or, play a Ranged build or Magic build if you dont want to get good and suffer with the rest of the melee boys. Final Verdict: An excellent title that offers something for combat enjoyers, RPG enjoyers, Survival enjoyers, and plenty of content to look forward to that for the price would be insane to not pick up and play. Excellent game again 4/5 in its current state and they have a planned update coming on Sep 01, which is aiming to address the issues I identified and add EVEN more depth to an already great game.
