I've been looking forward to this game for while and it's exceeded my expectations in many ways! The first thing you notice when you open the game is how lovely the art direction is. The characters, stages, and menus all look great, and I can confidently say that this is the cutest platform fighter on the market art style wise. Gameplay wise, the controls feel snappy and responsive, and each character feels good to play as. The majority of the cast feels very unique and almost every character has something in their kit that only they have, so every character feels distinct. There are a few minor flaws and jankness here and there, the main one I noticed being the lack of an announcer, and a lack of an end screen for any modes other than basic multiplayer fights/online. But these problems are easily solved with time, and the game has a very solid foundation. I hope it sees play and support for a long time!
It's a cute little Smash-lite, emphasis on lite. Each move has an aerial variation and a grounded variation, so weak, heavy, special, and grab, so each character essentially has eight moves, although some have additional chains on weak, and a few have alternate properties on heavy if you build up to full charge. I was playing on an old USB SNES-style controller and the game worked just fine after a bit of remapping. The animations are cute and the CPUs aren't terribly obnoxious to play against, so arcade mode was fun. Here's hoping the game does well so we can get some more characters or stages in the mix!

I was one of the people who play tested the beta pretty early on. I ended up backing it because I wanted the game to succeed. Of all of the games I have played in early access or crowdfunded, only this game has improved (without stupid nerfs) and delivered everything I wanted out of it. Not to mention that this is only the beginning. The single player content here is quite expansive in the amount of time you could sink into it. But there isn't a lot that everyone is going to latch onto for very long. Target test is probably the best of these because the achievements give you a baseline of what a really good time looks like for each stage. Every character gets their own target test stage, but you can also do all of those stages with every character. If you are speedrun inclined then this mode alone might be worth the asking price, but I don't think everyone is going to want to grind time trials for hours on end. Other single player content includes arcade mode with "three" difficulties *(with the last difficulty being the same as the second but you only get one stock/life), a "board the platforms" style platforming course with three stages, and a shoot the credits mini-game that you can access at any time via the main menu. Multiplayer content is the primary focus and my only complaint is very minor and I have found to be true about every singe platform fighter and cart racer that isn't Mario focused. The items (except the food*) are vague at best as to what you think they might do and take some trial and error to figure out. But after you figure it out I think the items are pretty fun. Some of them alter the way you can play the game, like making your jumps really floaty, or making you move very fast, or invisible. These can all help or hurt you depending on the situation which makes them feel balanced. You might want a buff or you could accidentally pick up an item you didn't want. Options are very good. Very customizable controls and rules of play. There is a rule you can adjust that just automatically destroys a player when they get damaged to a certain amount. This is just stamina but mildly confusing with the one difference being knockback still scales normally. I like it as an option, especially in party mode, which is utter chaos. I feel like there is so much I didn't say but the review is already pretty long. Buy (and actually play) the game so we can all find matches online! But try the demo first to see if you like the game.
I haven't really seen any negative review talk about the content of the game especially in a more party game POV with 2+ players (3 in this case) so I will since its actually a big problem that I have with it. I've played SSF2 with my brother and cousin for years and that game is free and its way funner. We tried RFFA for one session and already got bored after running through all the content. There's not a lot of characters to choose from and the characters having very limited move sets doesn't help even when ur playing with more then 2 players making fights less serious. Items are very limited, there are only a few unique ones but having 3 different types of heals and a few other generic ideas like invincibility for such a small pool of items doesn't really help. And then there are the stages where basically 90% of them are just different layouts without anything interesting, I can only think of 3 (more like 2) that do something more then just a still stage but there are no hazards and I dont really count destructible stages cause it usually doesn't change much. It was honestly just really hard to figure out something fun to do with the game since thats wut we tend to do is find a combination of things that would be fun to play with such as 1-2 items on high spawn rate that interact with each other in a way that makes it fun paired with certain characters and a certain stage but nothing felt like it could do much. I will admit though the item ideas were pretty good even though I mentioned earlier they weren't or generic, but wut really hinders the fun from them is the insanely hard limit of 3 and the item that spawns a bunch of them can barely sustain it because they dissapear quickly anyways making it a lot more boring. This is obviously very subjective but ig since I've played SSF2 for years with my brother and cousin, its obvious how much funner it is vs RFFA. More of everything and funner for all the categories mentioned. They even have certain content this game lacks which are the special smash settings so thats a one step up. Plus its FREE!!!
I enjoy.
game has A LOT of potential but it needs to be optimised better, also online doesn't work for some reason
