Hamster Scramble

This game is crazy good. I spent 60+ hours in the demo alone, the online mode and story are amazing, a couple of bugs here and there, but overall the experience is fantastic! Would 100% recommend to anyone who likes puzzle games or competitive games. Appropriate for all ages, and fun for all ages. Amazing art, and fantastic music.

(Quick heads up, in terms of playtime, I also have 13.1ish hours on Hamster Scramble Demo, with most of my time being spent playing against others online! ;u;) Hamster Scramble's a pretty fun(ny) take on Puzzle Bobble/bubble shooters, and it all starts with how you get orbs to launch onto the board in the first place! Instead of having a linear queue of orbs to shoot and remaining static on the bottom center of the board to shoot them, there are instead colored hamsters scurrying around that you have to catch in via running and platforming in order to turn them into throwable orbs. You can also reposition yourself as you please to get better shot angles! This alone makes for an interesting time, but it gets better... In multiplayer matches, you can temporarily [i]swap[/i] over to the opponent's side to either attack them (making them drop a hamster if they were holding one), throw orbs onto their board (mainly to block shots or make them top out), and steal their hamsters for yourself! Now we're talking~ I love the frantic nature that this swap mechanic brings, making you want to pay attention to not just your board and platforming area (where the hamsters roam around), but also your opponent's board and their platforming area too. It's all too satisfying to hop onto their board and quickly top them out if they're close to losing (but try not to get caught with your pants down if they end up attacking you)! The game's multiplayer supports not just 1v1, but 2v2 as well, so you can imagine the tactics and damage that could be done with teams of two, wild stuffssss. -u- The base mechanics of Hamster Scramble are fun, but there's even more in store! There's special hamsters like Rainbow Hamsters (matches with any color of hamsters on the board) and Skull Hamsters (can't be matched at all and must be dropped to get rid of it), as well as special bonuses for doing feats like making a match after bouncing a thrown hamster off of a wall and matching multiple colors of hamsters with one Rainbow Hamster! And of course, each of the game's 8 stages have all sorts of fun gimmicks at play, from slippery platforms, to stage layouts that have your hamsters scurry over to your opponent's side and vice versa, to being able to activate stationary flamethrowers to wipe out any hamsters in the way on your opponent's side! There's a whole lot to keep track of and be wary about, which I really enjoy! Gameplay aside, Hamster Scramble's also very charming too! The story mode telling the adventures of the main protagonists Kaden and Quinn rescuing kidnapped hamsters has been fun so far, the artwork is nice and cutesy (as if I'm watching a cartoon), and there are some pretty catchy tunes here and there! I highly recommend giving Hamster Scramble a whirl if you're into experimental puzzle games, love Puzzle Bobble but want to experience it differently, and/or have some familiarity with Battle Chef Brigade (as this game's flow of capturing creatures to use as puzzle game pieces reminded me of BCB), it's a fantastic frenzy!

I love the fresh twist on Puzzle Bobble! Being able to change your "pivot" and having more than one or two colors available makes me feel like I always have a shot at completing the puzzle instead of hopelessly fishing for the color I need. Love the corny humor too!

I love the concept. It combines match 3 bubble games with a platformer, and has an engaging story throughout, not to mention the online play where you can play with other people around the world!

A fun twist on the genre, haven't played a game like this in a long time. Cool to see something new.

A cool take on an old favorite arcade game. In particular I really love the hand-designed puzzle stages that give you as much time as you need to explore combos and difficult trick shots.

Super cool game! The platforming, bubble shooting, combos, and ability to fly over to your opponent's screen to mess with them all combine together to make a really engaging, Puzzle Bobble-esque, strategically chaotic load of fun. The story is really fleshed out with a lot of cool levels and bright, colorful characters. What I'm really here for, though, is the intense competitive 1v1s and 2v2s in the competitive PvP ranked and local multiplayer formats. The music and especially art deserve a special shout-out. Definitely give this game a try!

Such a compelling twist on the genre! The ability to swap and directly influence your opponent's board makes this type of game much more interactive than other competitive puzzle games. The platforming also lets the player choose their next color from a limited pool, which provides more freedom while adding additional challenges. There's a lot more decision-making involved than other games in the genre, and the skill ceiling is raised dramatically. I honestly can't wait to see the strategies that emerge from pro players. Also, the story mode is surprisingly full of lovely moments that flesh out the characters' personalities. Between the story mode, the adorable art design, and solid music, I've really grown to love these little guys and the world they're in.

Love this game, the graphics are adorable and it has an engaging storyline. Fun and easy to play, with interesting hamster facts during loading. My favorite hamster is the sleepy blue one, come find your favorite!
