About

May 1978. After a long drive through the night, you arrive at a lonely hotel. The lobby is empty, but someone has left a tape recorder on the reception counter. A single message plays:
“Your room is 713.”

Room 713 blends classic anomaly-spotting Exit 8-style gameplay with a murder mystery narrative. Pay close attention to your surroundings. Notice something wrong? Head left. Everything in order? Go right. With every correct choice, you climb a floor. Every mistake sends you back to the start.
The game features over 40 anomalies. Can you spot them all?

Who are you? Why are you here? What is this place? Room 713 elevates the anomaly-spotting formula by adding a murder mystery plot for the player to unravel. Interact with the environment, collect items, and solve ARG-style puzzles to uncover the tragedy that took place.
Only by discovering the truth will you be able to break the loop.

At first glance, Room 713 may seem like yet another Exit 8, but it has surprisingly way more depth. - The level is significantly bigger than your average anomaly game (3 rooms + corridor + lobby, although the latter has no anomalies) - The selection of anomalies is varied. You have your lore anomalies, your scary anomalies, your subtle anomalies and even a couple goofy ones. - There's an actual story being told here. - You can interact with almost everything in the level. I'd argue the game has some RE7 inspiration, given the puzzles and the inspection/interaction. - There are items/inventory. During some anomalies, you can find certain objects that you keep between game sessions, giving some sort of meta progression which I found interesting. - The game's endings are impactful and further emphasise that "detective" feeling when you are presented with essentially a game of Clue, having to answer who's the killer, the victim, the weapon used, the date etc. - It has some QoL features such as a hint system, an anomaly compendium, and different game modes. Overall a fresh take in an otherwise kind of stagnated genre. A really polished game in a genre filled with asset flip slop.
A bit short, but good for the price
Room 713 is a truly polished anomaly game. The atmosphere is insanely well done, and the backstory is genuinely amazing. The more you play, the more details you start noticing, and it makes you want to keep going just to understand everything that’s happening. You can tell a lot of care went into the little details and puzzles appart from the main anomaly mechanics. The variety of anomalies is also incredible. There are so many of them, and a lot feel really creative and memorable. Some are subtle, others are genuinely unsettling. (The one with the mannequin head.........GoragarX when I catch you.....) One of my favorite things is how much personality the game has. It’s packed with small details that make the whole experience feel immersive and unique, and it always feels like there’s something hidden waiting to be discovered. If you like anomaly games, mystery, and psychological horror, I seriously recommend this one. Easily one of the best games I’ve played in this style.
Gotta give major props to the creator of this game. Had a blast going through this anomaly hunter as you try to get to the titled room in the hotel. I absolutely loved The Shining references and even felt a twinge of PTSD with a certain bathroom there. Managed to get one ending during my run and look forward to getting the rest. Love the atmosphere that gives you constant sensation of dread and anxiety. Nailed the Shining motif. Low price for a lot of spooky fun!
