Rogue Courier: Phantom From a Past

Don't get me wrong, this is very good quality "stuff". Fair amount of scenes that are all top-notch. But the gameplay is abysmal. Combat is shallow and poorly balanced. Not a whole lot of content for the asking price either. But none of that is the issue here. This is a free demo that was available for a very long time. When I purchased, I kind of assumed it was the full game as it has been years in production, but it is not. There is actually -zero- new content from the demo here and none of the patreon exclusive content has been put in. If this is your first time with rogue courier, maybe wait for a sale to try this out, but as a longtime fan/hopeful of this project, I am pretty disappointed.

Получилась довольно неплохая адвенчура с космическими перестрелками и очаровательными женщинами. 🕖 Время прохождения: 5 часов+. 🔞 Цензура: нет. 👁‍🗨 Качество картинки: 4/5. ⭕ Стоит сразу упомянуть анимации, связанные с постельными сценами - они здесь шикарные. Плавные и чувственные. Такое сейчас мало кто осилит в одиночку, разве что, используя какой-нибудь Live2D, но эффект будет уже не тот. ⭕ Сюжетка неплохая, но заканчивается быстрее, чем успеваешь в неё втянуться. Вы будете управлять парнем, у которого есть корабль и тёмное прошлое. Работа курьером, как всегда, оборачивается секретными миссиями и знакомством с новыми персонажами и не всегда дружелюбными. ⭕ У вас будет возможность погулять и подраться с врагами на космических станциях, а также повоевать с другими кораблями в простеньком скролл-шутере. ❌ Ближе к концу сюжетки нужно гриндить валюту на покупку дорогих обвесов для корабля и аптечки, иначе дальше будет не пройти. Финальные квесты просто кошмар! Очень неплохое космическое приключение с участием красивых инопланетянок.

Not a bad game overall. Very decent 2D animation and overall gameplay is not that bad but I do put "Not Recommended " for couple reasons Price Tag: Price Tag imho is too high. Even though you can barely find any game with more decent 2D animations than this, but rest of aspects just doesn't pull towards the price tag. Grind: So Developer needs to finally come to the conclusion if this a game with full story or heavily oriented on sexual activities? For instance Treasure of Nadya has perfec5 balance in between and eventually you go there for story. In this game I found story not to be compelling and grind too much to get scenes . Game Engine: I looked into files and seems game engine is some sort of a custom one. I wasn't able to get 60 FPS on my 4090 and wasn't able to get past 1920 resolution on my 2K monitor. This is a huuuuuge minus. I never liked any custom made engines. There are robust engines like Unity or Unreal Engine. This was one reason it got me off the hook at start. Fina Verdict : I suggesr getting game only on good sales, as of now Imho I don't suggest throwing 10$ to this game as we have comparison of a single dev from NLT Media who produce a lot more better game currently with simply superior quality. Still, 2D animations are amazing in this game and thats what got me hooked in first place to try this game

Having been a fan of the artists work for a long time, and having spoken to both them and the developer about the game, I can say that they're both talented, hard working people who are eager to listen to their fans. This review is after the entire story, and every side mission had been completed, with most of the adult scenes unlocked. First and foremost: VOLUME Sliders (Headphone users beware): The initial opening of the mc in his bedroom barely gives you time to take in the scene before you're blasted with overly loud music. There is NO option to lower or adjust the sound effects, music or voices, only to turn them on or off. I feel the experience would be much less jarring if the base volume was lowered by, at the very least, 25%. Second: While the tutorial is fine, there were some immediately noticeable hangups with the UI. Like not being able to open or close the main menu by pressing escape, which feels natural to do and have on any given game. Closing a submenu takes you back through every individual menu you went through to get there, which if you intend to take part in the side activities of mining and scouting, can get tedious after the third or so time doing it. I feel a hotkey or designated button for both the scouting and mining drone on the space travel screen would've been a major boon to gameplay. Third: The ever present threat of losing yourself to sakhara, but the very limited way of dealing with it. This being an adult game, it's only natural for you to wanna take part in the extensive amount of spank bank materials available from any major station. However, despite the fantastic artwork and the ability to visualize any piece of smut you obtain before having to use it, their usefulness ranged from almost no point to 'I must keep a stockpile of this one item at all times'. There reasonably should've been a more physical way to deal with the corruption via the ship AI or [spoiler]Halina[/spoiler] once she joins your crew and you're close enough. Being able to walk around the ship and grab either of them if needed. (Or desired) Even the android didn't appear to have a use beyond the initial scene, at least not one I found. I also felt it was a tad odd seeing the exact same three merchants in the exact same spot on every station, even a change in clothing if not the characters themselves might've made this a little less blaring. On the note of purchasing things, nothing except the highest tier ships weapons felt out of my reach monetarily, but the other two merchants pickings always felt slim. Even a few items like erotic decorations that appeared the next time you entered your room would enhance the buying experience. Fourth: The overbearing strength of the early ship weapons. With even the cheaper 5000 credit gun upgrades, no enemy but the stronger of the bosses posed any actual opposition to me. Despite the extensive amount of options available (I myself wanted an all homing missile build and got most of it), it'd be an extraneous amount of time to grind out the creds for the biggest, most powerful weapons, which might only have the use of getting one of the achievements. Granted, enemy variety and challenge wasn't the original purpose of the game, but it'd be something to think about for any future works. Fifth: You'd be hard pressed to find any better animated adult scenes in most games on steam. Lovingly crafted displays involving missionary and everything in between await you in abundance. THIS is what you're really playing for, AND paying for. All scenes and images you unlock are waiting right at the start screen for your viewing pleasure. Overall, minus the quality of life changes the game needs, it's fun enough with 'payoffs' that are worth the price of admission. Pros: -Interesting universe, enough to keep your interest for a few hours -Exceptional artwork and animations -soundtrack is decent, if loud Cons: -combat systems hangups become really apparent in the later sections -Seemingly out of character behavior, again seemingly out of nowhere and for no reason -A few spelling errors in dialogue exchanges -If you've followed the development of this game for any length of time, you may feel a lack of new content when playing through the full experience. An interesting world ready and waiting for you whenever you get 'the itch'
