About
Nah.
Tick-tock. Enemies are closing in. The further you climb, the more challenging it becomes. Every second counts.
Precision Movement
Blink-dash through the chaos, ground-pound into your foes, and chain wall-runs like a parkour master—master the climb, or plummet to your doom.
Enemies & Traps Around Every Corner
Spikes bursting from the floor, fire-breathing monsters, and gravity itself are all out to stop you.
Tactical Gear
Collect one-time-use equipment as you climb—but beware, carrying too much will weigh you down.
Strategic Upgrades
Build your loadout with powerful upgrades, but choose wisely—your slots are limited. Level them dynamically as you climb, adapting to every challenge.
Roguelike Challenge
The climb never gets easier, only you get better. No excuses. No mercy.

Gobbos might seem harmless—but don’t let your guard down. When lightning rods black out your vision and a swarm of man-eating cave worms surround you on all sides, landing your jumps on a Gobbo's cap will make your palms sweat.
You will find checkpoints along the way. They're one-time-use only, though. And yes, there’s a grapplehook. Because grapplehooks make everything better.

Equip Seals to unlock powerful abilities—but there’s a catch. Each level has a PWR limit, so choosing the right Seals is key.
Crystals let you boost Seal power during your climb, but upgrades happen at random. Will you gamble on a full loadout or focus on a few to guarantee the boost? The choice is yours—use your noggin or trust your luck.

Still here? Good—you’re tough enough for the advanced movement controls. Wall-runs, blink-dashes, ground-pounds, and jump-combos are just the beginning.
The deeper you explore the controls, the more you’ll uncover. Use blink-dashes to phase through obstacles, sprint to extend combos, or queue a dash for later with precision timing. Master the climb, and the climb will reward you.

Bottom line: Rogue Climber is a roguelike platformer with with old-school aesthetics. It's easy to play (run + jump) but nearly impossible to master (run + jump + sprint + wall-run + blink dash + wall-jump + jump combo banking + a million other movement tactics). Fun, frustrating, and addictive. Pros ✅️ Kind of the perfect difficulty for... everyone? Somehow? The game is super fun and challenging whether you're just running and jumping, or if you've completely entered the Matrix and optimized every aspect of you're moveset while you teleport through walls and ricochet off enemies. ✅️ It's the best kind of Dark Souls-ian frustrating, where when you screw up, it's almost always your fault (and you immediately want to redeem yourself). ✅️ The intrinsic sense of progression is off the charts. You can literally see yourself getting better as you play, which is extremely motivating and addictive. Cons ❌️ There's the vestiges of a narrative that you can kind of see the outline of... but so far in early access, there's no real story. ❌️ The menus are placeholder, I'm pretty sure. Some of them can be pretty unintuitive. ❌️ Sometimes it feels like the movement is sticky. Once every little while, I'll miss a jump because of this, and it's super frustrating.
This game is super silly and kooky. I saw it at PAX West 2025 and instantly fell in love with the graphics. It's going to be great following it through Early Access :)
Rogue Climber is a fun and engaging little climbing game with a charming retro vibe. I enjoyed the overall experience, but I did encounter a few features that could use some refinement. First, I noticed an issue with the sprint-jump mechanic. Holding the space bar for too long while sprinting seems to cause the character to teleport. It took me a while to figure out that you need to release the sprint key at the last second and quickly tap the space bar to make it across certain gaps. This mechanic could frustrate new players. Second, to my knowledge, there was no control manual or tutorial. I spent nearly ten minutes of my 24-minute play-through just figuring out the controls and trying to understand what the collectible items did. A brief tutorial or introduction would go a long way in easing players into the game. Another odd behavior I encountered was that when running uphill, the character often face-plants into the ground. I’m not sure if that’s intentional, but it becomes a bit annoying when you're racing against a ten-minute timer. I’d also like to mention the font choice. While it’s unique, it’s a bit hard on the eyes. The spacing between words and sentences feels cramped, making navigation slightly difficult. A simpler, more readable font would make the menus and UI much easier to use. That said, there’s a lot to love about Rogue Climber. The game-play is smooth—I didn’t run into any bugs or lag—and the retro graphics are well done if that’s the intended aesthetic. The art style is beautiful, and both the sound effects and background music were solid and immersive. I made it to 125m before accidentally flinging myself off a cliff and running out of time, but it was a fun challenge all the way through. This is a great game for passing time, especially if you enjoy a bit of a challenge. All of my suggestions are minor and mostly focused on polish and clarity. My overall rating, setting aside the small flaws, would be an 8/10. While I usually prefer RPGs and shooters, Rogue Climber was a refreshing change of pace, and I’m excited to see how it evolves. Looking forward to the final release—keep up the great work! :)
Climb—climb, keep climbing—you just can’t stop! Jump, jump, don’t fall (lol). Even though it’s still in Early Access, the game is already a blast. I’m looking forward to its full release
Very good game to play. Totally don't have some impossible records from my shenannigans in 1.0.
****** 5 STARS ***** “Rogue Climber” is a wonderful surprise for both kids and parents looking for a fun, lighthearted, and engaging game experience on Steam. Designed with colorful graphics, upbeat music, and challenging yet rewarding gameplay. The game’s main goal — climbing as high as possible through visually stimulating levels — keeps kids entertained while also challenging their reflexes and problem-solving skills. Each climb feels different thanks to the multiple levels while increasing challenges at each level. This has encouraged my kids to experiment with different options within each level. I particularly love how the game balances fun and creativity. As players ascend, they encounter clever obstacles, whimsical creatures, and hidden power-ups that keep the experience fresh. The bright art style and friendly tone make it completely family-safe, and the absence of violence or dark themes means parents can relax while their kids play. Overall, “Rogue Climber” is an absolute gem for children (and even adults who enjoy cheerful, casual games). It’s easy to pick up, satisfying to play, and full of personality. Highly recommended for families looking for a fun and positive gaming experience! BTW....I found some really cool merchandise for this game as well. The studio that produced this game sells hand-painted Gobbos (the primary character) if you can find them. I wish they would put them on their website so I could get a couple more for my nieces and nephews - they love this game too (we frequently watch them for my sister).
A game your kids will love, but you'll end up enjoying it more. Clearly made with care, and even when I had no idea what was going on, I could tell there was some kind of deeper mystery to uncover.
Rogue Climber is surprisingly addictive! It is very challenging but extremely fun. Nice to come across a game that is more light-hearted (think Spyro and Crash Bandicoot) and less "murdery". Easy to get immersed in the levels that are each very imaginative and creative. I especially love the texts and words that appear as you navigate the levels to provide hints and insights. Make sure you heed the advice given! Feels like you have a partner helping you get through the level. But mostly I can't get enough of Gobbo! Really would love to see some Gobbo merch! Great job Imaginary Game Studios!!
This game is quite addictive! All you got to do is CLIMB. The higher you climb the faster you can climb. Enemies will knock you back, but is it a set back or a spring forward? CLIMB!
very underated indie game, I've had a lot of fun with this game, it's simple concept of climbing as high as you can works really well in combination with the various movement mechanics that are used to your advantage (or disadvantage >:] ).
