Far beyond the reaches of the Milky Way, a great darkness is looming. A clandestine force using powerful social manipulation techniques is controlling the resources of star systems throughout the universe. Their only existential threat appears to be a rock band from the planet Earth.

It’s a good idea, but I don’t like that you can’t skip the dialogs. Evaluation is neutral. Well, you can’t modest banner? Sorry for bad English..

This is more of a series of impressions than a full review becauise I have no intention of playing further than I have. Apparently Rocketboat is a real band, but I've never heard of them- if you have, you may find this more interesting. Visually, the game absolutely nails it- it looks like an NES game in 3D running at a higher resolution. This is purely a sidescroller, but the angled view gives it added depth, and you can sometimes switch perspectives like Mutant Mudds. It's such a shame that the other aspects of the game are not so impressive, but I would love to see more games in this art style. But agian, that's really where my positivity ends- many of the enemies are simple, boring shapes that don't telegraph their actions. The music is very grating, as if they don't undertstand what makes retro game music good in the first place- and that's unfortunate if this game exists to promote a band. There's too much stopping and waiting in the level design- these kinds of games are best when you can go as fast as your skill allows for. Speaking of waiting, there are long unskippable dialogue sequences where the text slowly appears on the screen- this is one thing NES games that we did not need to bring into the modern era. It's a free game, and it's worth a download to see what you think, but it's really not for me and I would not recommend it.

This looks like a great game and indeed shows great promise. I have never seen any other band promoted in such a way, and it is amazing that they did this. With that said, the delay before actually jumping killed me most. It is unfortunate that I ended up more frustrated with than enjoying the game.
