First impression: free good box pusher (Sokoban) puzzle game. Press left-arrow on the first screen to switch to English! The basic mechanic is pushing boxes to their target destination. Then you get flame squares to avoid (or burn up useless boxes), ice cubes to douse fires, stone plinths, rolling rocks, and more, to vary the strategies that are necessary to solve a level. There are 100 levels, all unlocked, rated by difficulty. I've tried 17 so far, skipping quite a few to have a look at the new mechanics. The obvious drawback is that this game needs polish. Setting the language like that is awkward. There is no mouse support. You need to figure out on your own what the new mechanics do. The game does not remember which levels have been solved (but there's a Steam achievement for each level that reminds you). There is no undo key, but the levels aren't that big, and you can reset them. None of these are game breakers, but they're mildly annoying. But the main thing is: as far as I've seen so far, the puzzles themselves are well-designed, and the new mechanics work very well. If you like box-pushing puzzles, you can have a lot of fun with this! And it's free!

Roce's Journey is a 2D retro pixel Sokoban ripoff that seems to have been slapped together badly with the godawful OHRRPGCE (Official Hamster Republic Role Playing Game Construction Engine). This is differentiated mostly from the original Sokoban game by having different object types to push around. There's 100 levels of "I can't believe this isn't Adobe Flash" mediocrity here. Resolution and controls are locked, and can't be changed or customised to improve the visuals or the control experience. A choice was made to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. They didn't even bother making the game work properly in full screen. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC. The game is completely free. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration. This is certainly a gesture that shows dedication to the gaming industry. It's a shame in this case that the implementation is below the minimum standards a dedicated PC game should offer to enthusiasts. There's no "maybe" option in Steam, unfortunately, but I hope to see more work from this developer, perhaps as part of a professional game development company that can make full use of their talents without needing to make budget/quality compromises.
