I don't recommend. The concept is interesting and could have made for a great game, but it feels like the minimal amount of work possible was done to turn it into a game. Lot's of grind. Minimal fun scenes and it's hidden behind the text box (not sure what to use to hide the text as "H" doesn't work). Need to build stats by grinding. Time is relevant. Very Shallow game. I don't have much else to say. I got on sale, thank goodness.
Robolife2 – Nova Duty improves on the first game in a lot of ways. The scenes are better, there are more story routes to explore, and NG+ makes replaying for different outcomes much more convenient. Unfortunately, the same core mechanics are still here, and they can still feel tedious at times. While the improvements help smooth things out, those systems may still be a turn-off if you didn’t like them in the first game. Overall, a solid sequel that builds nicely on the original, even if it doesn’t fully fix its biggest issues.
Very poor non-VN portions and even the VN portions are low quality, dialogue is odd and often stilted (may be due to translation from another language, as is common) with some oddities in timing based on quest chains where it seems your relationship has gone backwards for no apparent reason (the game just isn't accounting for your current stage in that dialogue...tree? Not really a tree - single branch mostly.) Plus it's one of those games on a timer where the primary difficulty is just knowing which chess move to make when, plenty of those around and many of higher quality.
A considerable improvement over the first game but I still unfortunately wouldn't recommend. The gameplay is too tedius when it comes to the management aspect. I do appreciate the combat system the game added, and while not anything too spectacular it was at the very least engaging. The story is not really there for the most part. There are some nice interaction and memorable moments from time to time with the different girls but you could honestly skip everything and not really miss much of nothing. The audio is good but there is a lot of cheap sound effects. For the price of this game I'd expect some more extensive audio work done outside of the cheap anime trope sounds. Art is easily the biggest step up from the first game and it's very well animated in the H scenes. Some of the artwork outside of those scenes does feel a little cheap though. My biggest gripe with the game is just how tedious it is. It's so tedious it sucked all the enjoyment out of the game for me personally. Areas for improvement: 1 - Make the gameplay less tedious 2 - Have the story be more compelling outside of typical harem anime trope. 3 - Better audio production would make more sense for the costs of the game 4 - likewise with the audio production some of the art comes across as super cheap when outside of H-scenes Scoring: Gameplay 5/10 Story 4/10 Audio 6.5/10 Art 8.5/10 Personal Enjoyment 3.5/10 Final Score: 27.5/50 (55% out of a possible 100%) Note: 70% is the minimum threshold for whether or not I would reccomend and as such I will not be recommending this game.

Robolife2 – Nova Duty is an ambitious hybrid that blends visual novel storytelling, life simulation, and light RPG mechanics into a character-driven experience clearly aimed at an adult audience. Developed by Barance Studio and published by Critical Bliss alongside Mango Party, the game places its focus squarely on relationship building, customization, and long-term progression rather than fast-paced action. It presents a futuristic setting where androids exist alongside humans under strict oversight, immediately establishing themes of control, autonomy, and emotional connection that shape the entire experience. The narrative begins when the protagonist rescues Nova, an irregular android who has fallen under government scrutiny, and brings her into their home. From this premise, the story unfolds gradually through dialogue-heavy scenes, daily routines, and branching events that depend heavily on player choices. Rather than pushing a single linear plot, the game emphasizes character development and discovery, allowing Nova’s personality, confidence, and role in the world to evolve based on how the player treats her and allocates time. The writing leans heavily into slice-of-life moments punctuated by larger revelations about Nova’s origins and the society that created her, giving the story a slow-burn quality. Gameplay revolves around time management and decision-making. Each in-game day offers a limited number of actions, forcing players to choose between working jobs, researching upgrades, exploring locations, or spending time with Nova. This structure creates a steady rhythm where progress feels earned rather than immediate. Earning money and resources is essential for unlocking better equipment and story paths, but overemphasis on efficiency can come at the cost of Nova’s emotional and physical stability, reinforcing the idea that balance is central to success. One of the game’s most defining systems is Nova’s modular body and equipment customization. Players can research and install a wide variety of parts that alter her abilities, appearance, and performance in work or exploration. These parts affect core statistics such as strength, processing power, and endurance, turning Nova into something akin to a customizable RPG character. Beyond raw numbers, customization also serves a narrative purpose, visually reflecting Nova’s growth and transformation over time. The sheer number of combinations allows players to experiment extensively, encouraging multiple playthroughs to see different outcomes. The stability mechanic adds an additional layer of depth to the simulation. Nova’s condition is influenced by workload, upgrades, and interactions, and neglecting her well-being can result in penalties that affect efficiency and progression. This system prevents the game from becoming a purely mechanical optimization exercise and reinforces its emotional core. Managing stability effectively requires attention not just to stats, but to Nova as a character, aligning gameplay incentives with narrative themes. Exploration segments and event-based encounters break up the routine of daily management. These sections are generally turn-based and story-focused rather than mechanically complex, often serving as gateways to new items, characters, or plot developments. While not challenging in a traditional sense, they provide variety and context, making the world feel broader than the apartment and workplace settings alone. Adult-oriented scenes and content are integrated into these systems rather than existing as isolated rewards, tying intimacy and progression together. Visually, Robolife2 – Nova Duty embraces a clean anime-inspired art style with expressive character designs and polished illustrations. Nova’s animations and expressions help convey emotion and personality, making her feel more than just a collection of stats and parts. The presentation supports the game’s tone well, balancing intimacy with a sense of futuristic detachment. Audio and voice work further enhance immersion, especially during key narrative moments where emotional weight matters most. Despite its strengths, the game’s pacing can feel uneven. Long stretches of routine management may feel repetitive for players more interested in narrative payoff, and some story triggers are tied to specific conditions that are not always clearly communicated. As a result, progress can occasionally feel opaque without experimentation or external guidance. The experience also demands patience, as meaningful story developments often come after sustained investment rather than immediate gratification. Overall, Robolife2 – Nova Duty is a deeply niche title that succeeds on its own terms. It offers a rich combination of life simulation, character growth, and adult storytelling that rewards careful planning and emotional engagement. While it may not appeal to players seeking fast gameplay or complex combat systems, it stands out as a thoughtful, systems-driven visual novel where choices, time management, and personal connection meaningfully shape the outcome. For players drawn to long-form relationship-focused experiences with customization and strategic elements, it delivers a substantial and memorable journey. Rating: 8/10
