PROS: -The AI accumulation system which makes enemies behave differently as the value goes up. The bigger enemies are a very real threat. -Tight controls and game mechanics. Jumping, dashing, shooting, punching; everything's responsive and quick to pick up and they're all used to their fullest throughout the game. -Having a game entirely about robots and mechanical stuff which not only avoids overdosing on the color grey, but has a decent amount of color to mix up the visuals, namely with the title character. -The sabotage system allowing parts of the ship to go down at once or later, which makes certain platforming sections or corridors easier by disabling certain things. CONS: -This is pretty clearly designed with a controler in mind. Using a keyboard took lots of trial and error shifting the keys around to find something sort of comfortable. -It can be a bit frustrating to get through most of a room, die, then get sent back to the entrance and have to do it all over again. I wouldn't change it, it's just frustrating is all. -Final sequence is a bit meh. Overall I do like this game and am currently going through new game plus mode. And a tip for anyone speedrunning this: If you're on a conveyor belt and look up so the belt is offscreen, it behaves like a regular platform.
If you're looking for a challenging platformer with fast paced action and robot combat, you've come to the right place! The Zarnoks are destroying several planets in the galaxy, and when their target become Saphirium, your job as The Guardian is to protect it from complete annhilation! In fact you'll have to rush through the spaceship-fortress in order to sabotage critical areas and be able access the core and stop the invasion, and you'll be fighting against the clock. Depending on the difficulty, you'll have different amount of hours and sabotage areas (on normal it's about 7 hours, you got time!), this makes you feel right into the action, as you slowly watch the fortress approaching the planet and killing the inhabitants, it's a touch of "realism", a real invasion must be stopped as soon as possible, to save as many people as possible. The best part of the game is the platforming and robot fights, you'll need every bit of skill to rush in every section of the fortress while dealing with the robo guards. You can take a stealth approach, or just charge the enemies and give 'em a good ol' uppercut in the robochin :D The map is huge and interconnected, it does the job well to recreate a spaceship and the feeling that is a whole "world", which is cool, although sometimes, and that's the only problem I had, it feels a bit confusing at first, there are many directions you can take and it'll require some time to understand properly the structure of the spaceship. There are also hacking sections, which is the second kind of gameplay you'll face, that is navigating the fortress' net, unlocking doors and collecting data, that will weaken the enemies' AI for easier fights! (I like this feature, very meta!) Overall, if you like platform games with a touch of metroidvania, I highly recommend you this game. It's fun, runs fast and furious on the platforming and combat, and it is challenging nonetheless, it'll test your ability as a true savior of the galaxy! I'm making a whole playthrough of the game, a review copy sent to me by the developers: https://youtu.be/arBqf4-MuwI
I just cannot recommend this game. 1) You can only shoot horizontally while your enemies can shoot at any angle they want. 2) The support robots are just annoying and not fun to fight. Depending on the environment you can get in a battle of attrition that you will lose, especially if there are two that revive each other with the drones blocking your shots. Yes I know one of the sabotages disable drones but that doesn't excuse it. 3) Enemies can have shields like you do that are on top of their normal health and only take one shield damage at a time. You can dash punch to destroy it all but you take contact damage so punching was practically suicide. Oh, and those shield/health drops? Enemies can take them. 4) Some of the level design just appears to force you to take damage. In fact one of the keys for the digital environment appears to force you to take a death since it is behind tiles that turn deadly after you move off of them so unless they turn back to normal after time you have to take a death. 5) Speaking of the digital environment it appeared to be pointless. Yes you can lower the AI level but you would have to grind to fight the increase even on normal difficulty. I tried it for 'fast travel' once to go back to the first one you unlock only to find it behind another key and didn't want to deal with trying to find it. 6) There are gates that lock when you are detected and unlock when the enemy is destroyed, except you can easily get locked out on the other side that the enemy is on forcing you to destroy the gate or try to punch it through the gate. As for the positives, the music is good although seemed to be inspired heavily by Mega Man, the graphics aren't bad, and the idea of a sabotaging for different benefits is good. However the game was more frustrating than fun and many times I felt that a death was due to me being put in a position where if I am able to get through it is usually through cheap tactics.
(disclaimer, I haven't finished the game yet - if the endind for some reason is bad, I wouldn't know, but seeing how polished the game has been so far, I can almost assure you; it is not) This. This is what I define as a freaking nice game with much to offer. Polished and cohesive graphics, nice illustrations, great challenges, good music, easy to learn controls but hard to master, and in general good ol' fun. If you like action platformers, this is the game for you.
Great gameplay, challenging but rewarding. Love the retro platform style, and the sound to accompany it is fantastic. The adventure itself is open-ended, leading to all sorts of paths through the world as you progress towards the ship's core. I would definitely recommend picking this game up and seeing for yourself. Tons of fun!
Its a really good game for being out for such a short time. i got to meet the dev and grapichs desinger witch was really cool at EGLX, really devoted to what there doing and how to do it, if i could again say. it would be 100% beater with co-op, its a nice small game 12/10 keep doing what youre doing!
I enjoy these types of retro platformer games. As you progress more into the ship, that is when the game gets even more better!
Point score for different aspects of the game (0 to 10) Graphics 8 (Fuzzy Graphics was a bug and has been fixed) Music 8 Cinematics 6 Story 7 Content 7 Controls 8 (game is meant to be played with a controller) Gameplay 7 Final Score 7.3 Liked: Nice looking game with enjoyable music and interesting puzzles Disliked: Game view could zoomed out a bit, but nothing major Verdict: Nice game and i recommend giving it a try!
This game is a solid, fun platformer with challenges that are introduced logically. I really like the game's engaging sci-fi environment. Whether you're new to gaming or a seasoned veteran, there's something here for everyone to appreciate. Cool soundtrack!
The game has good ideas but as far as gameplay I lost interest very fast. The different zones are all the same just with different colors. Everything sort of blends together so sometimes it's hard to tell what is platform and what is just background. The game is difficult which is nice but I didn't feel any kind of accomplishment or statisfaction when I finally completed a difficult area. maybe it's just not the game for me
