Roadside Research is a 1 to 4 player co-op gas station simulator. Except you’re aliens. And undercover. Do very human things like restocking shelves while preparing for the invasion. Just don’t get caught.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 5.43/day in the week to Aug 13 → 13.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Aliens have landed on Earth… to run a gas station. Play solo or up to 4 players and do human tasks to blend in. People depend on you, it’s your job to make sure that the shelves have the correct items, refuel customers passing by, and provide food for travelers. But most importantly, you must conduct your research.
Your mission is simple. Gather all data you can from humans without their knowledge. Scan, steal, and test various methods on customers while they stop by the gas station. Be careful not to raise the “suspicion meter” too high, as that will trigger the visit of government officials.
During the day, take care of the gas station as an ordinary employee. Restock the shelves, order wares for the shop, refuel passersby, and exchange goods for cash. At night you will be able to gather your thoughts, and plan for the next day.
Balance between two missions, upgrading the gas station to attract more customers and upgrading your alien tech to process data and gather information more efficiently. To blend in, draw a very normal human expression on your state-of-the-art disguise.
During closing hours, you can also upgrade the station, inside and outside to make sure everything is going according to plan.
Chaotic solo or co-op fun: Gather friends or play alone to manage the gas station while pursuing your alien mission.
Dual Upgrade Path: Manage upgrades for your gas station and for your alien technology at the same time
Satisfying Simulation: Clean, cook, and stock your workplace with all necessary supplies and items to make sure every customer leaves satisfied.
Alien Deception: Make sure to stay disguised and don’t get caught by human government officials. If you are too suspicious, they will turn you into goo.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Recommended 16.4 hours of playtime and my fiancé and I have somehow decided that running a gas station together is quality couple time. 😂⛽ He plays on PC, I play on my Steam Deck, and it actually runs pretty well on Steam Deck! I haven't had any major issues playing it handheld, which makes it even easier to jump in and cause some questionable business decisions together. We're just trying to keep the place running while avoiding the agents who occasionally show up trying to prove what we really are. Nothing like casually running a business while thinking, “Act normal. ACT NORMAL.” 😂 It's SO much fun with someone else. Half the fun is watching your partner handle a situation and thinking, “Oh no… what are you doing?” One of my favorite games to play with my fiancé. 10/10 would continue our extremely suspicious gas station business. 👽⛽

This is a fun and beautiful game with a twist on the store sim genre! I do, however, hate the checkout system which is physics based and has stuff falling off on the floor or hilariously rocketing up to the ceiling. There is a reason other sims don't use this system: it sucks, takes longer and really doesn't work well. Thankfully there is a "cheat" code through Wemod that auto scans items so you don't have to struggle through that piece of the game. You still have to make change, it just scans the items for you. That aside, I'm enjoying my time building up my little store to take over humanity!
LOVE THIS GAME 10/10 PLAY IT ALL THE TIME HUMANS ARE NICE TOO
