Reviews
This is a very soft yes review because of how unpolished the game is 2 weeks now after its release. If this is how basic this game is meant to really be, then it's worth closer to $2 and not $5. Riverside Of Dice is an extremely bare-bones and basic Yahtzee style dice combat game. This is not an Early Access game, so this must be as simple as it's intended to be... There's no storyline in-game besides what we're told on the store page description. Which is fine, but there's also no changing scenes or special graphics either. The gameplay is all played in one screen with a slightly different looking cat sitting across from you each round. The modifiers feel a little overwhelming as they collect along the side of the screen, and it hasn't felt like like I've have much control or understanding about each upgrade I pile on. I'd love to keep playing but there just isn't much here to keep me coming back for long... I've gotten to level 14 after 5 run attempts, but I have no idea how many levels are in a full run. Maybe the game will be updated in the future to have more explanation? I'm not gonna refund it because I do think it's an easy mindless game to play in the background of something else that requires your listening. That, and I knowingly took the risk on this one. The one vague review and my love for simple rougelikes intrigued me though. Suggestions to the developers: - Tutorial of any sort would be helpful - Undo button - Adding the name of the cat to the play screen, so you know while you play what their name is. I feel like this would be better than just showing it when you win/lose at the end of each round. - Adding one line backstories to each cat would be cool too. Even if it's just a couple words. Anything! - Any graphic or visual reward for winning would make playing the game feel nicer - Have fewer modifiers or make them more concise, adding instantly impactful stronger modifiers like.. - Adding "wild" dice or dice with special powers 6/10 Basically I want more for the price. Because the game isn't bad, it's just not enough right now.
