Only played a small bit but I'm very excited to play more, it's like Scott pilgrim's beat-em-up game. I've only just heard of this game which is a shame because it's getting delisted now, so grab it while you can! EDIT: aaaand it's gone... RIP
fun tough many fighters get rich.
The future of gaming.

Steam has desperately needed a Thumbs In The Middle review for a long time now but I'm coming down on the negative side of this On the most positive end: this game's combat and combo system is incredibly deep and intricate, it competes with the upper echelon of hardcore beatemup games like the good Devil May Crys and God Hand and rewards extreme execution. The 8-bit visuals and sound are pulled off well here but even at the time it came out the style was getting a bit stale, and it's nothing particularly notable. Where the game falls apart is just its entire structure and how repetitive and grindy it is. It feels like it takes forever for characters to even start being fun to play as, unlocking moves and leveling up their stats is a massive grindy chore and you just get sick of it. So despite how deep the combat is and how well-made a lot of the characters' kits are, because it takes too damn long to upgrade them you basically just end up playing a single one rather than experiencing any of the variety the game has to offer. I honestly think they could have quadrupled the amount of money every enemy drops and it would STILL be a chore to get everyone's moves.
Its a shame they had to Dlist the game due to licensing but it's understandable why they removed the artwork and all due to the fact that they had an agreement with Arc System work which means they owned the content and currently still do, RCSU was a kickstarter when it entered the agreement with the parent company. Conatus creative worked on this project with a Crowdfunding for it. So absorb that information for those of you who are to small minded and lazy to use any sense too actually read. It was up on both Humble and GOG for a price of 20, Before being taken off the list. 19.99 is a bit a steep price but then again gotta remember for those who played all the original consoles from the NES - Snes and then some the price for games were just about the same then as it was listed on those sites. This game brought back some good memories, Used to play Renegade which was the starter of the River city ransom game itself added with all the other games that included the character's from the games which too this day games today hardly hold anything to the original games created with actual creative minds and devs who didn't hold anything back vs today's gen of game devs who have no standards and no creative idealism too make a game worth the price tag and all. For a beat em up game with a leveling system I enjoyed it as it still held some good merits to the original though they removed any need to buy shoes etc to increase your stats a bit as now its all about leveling and gorging yourself until you max out each stat, Dojo's are still a thing so is Merlin's shop but only opened at night and its limited to just one item instead of being a wider list (stat boosting items would have been idea at a higher price, Or and at least some kind of side missions to take and beat down some demons, Vampires etc to obtain rewards?) The difficulty settings are actually pretty accurate with how the NPC AI functions. Character moves are pretty sluggish at the start and some take time to get used to but once you get the hang of their move sets it becomes pretty interesting to see what move connects with another.
