Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition

I love this game so much, just playing it for hours is fun and you can really get lost in this game if you don't keep track of time.

Way worth the money. The free version is pay-to-win garbage, while this version is fully dependent on the amount of work you put into it. There's no ads, no timers for training, and most importantly, NO ENERGY. You can play as long as you want to! Plus it's way easier to progress in this version.

I've loved playing horse games my whole life and really enjoy finding new ones to play! I've seen Rival Stars recommended so many times, I had to give it a shot. I really enjoyed it! Generally, the horse mechanics are good and the horses are pretty. The different coat patterns and colors are fun. I hate how the Akhal-Tekes looked so avoided using them for breeding as much as possible. The breeding can be a little wonky, but didn't bother me too much. Leveling up is my favorite goal and loved unlocking new grades to breed. It was really frustrating once I reached level 20 with grade 10 horses and discovered they don't give you any grade 10s in the stud farm to breed to or in the market to purchase, so I spent forever breeding grade 9s till I finally got a 10 and then forever trying to get grade 10s with good stats. The only way to feasibly do this is to repeatedly breed parent to offspring which I did not like doing. Now, I've completed the storyline and will probably put the game down for a few months before starting over with a new save! All in all, I did like this game and would recommend it, but there were some things that I would have changed. I hated that my lower grade horses essentially became useless and took up space, so I had to sell them or send them to the pasture. Ranch of Rivershine has a pasture mechanic as well, but you can actually see them while roaming around your farm which is nice. Also in Ranch of Rivershine, you can eventually level up lower level horses using the statue bonuses, so if you have a lower level horse you're really attached to, you could keep them forever. I was really sad to let many of my horses go in Rival Stars lol The game ran fine on my computer and I didn't have issues with crashing or working incorrectly. EDIT: I just remembered something that really annoyed me while playing this game: the scrolling!! Why is scrolling through the races and horses etc. so wonky! If I use the mouse wheel to scroll down the list of horses, it goes extremely slow. If I use the arrow keys or WASD to scroll through horses or races, it jumps around or gets through part of the list and then jumps back to the beginning, or doesn't work at all! When trying to navigate over to other courses or races with the arrow keys or WASD, it often bounces back to where you started! Very frustrating and something that should be a very basic thing to do.
