The gacha is badly done, Majong engine works alright but you'd be better served with an open source alternative.

Im new to Mahjong and I'm not fast enough for 5 second turns so I play with AI to familiarize myself with the hands and yakus. The only yaku the AI go for riichi, nothing else. They get it super early and they just feed eachother or get a bunch of tsumo. Other riichi mahjong alternatives are actually playable compared to this one.

Bean Mouse loves playing mahjong!
The gacha system could be better but I have a lot of fun playing the game. It can be difficult to understand how the game works at first, but there's plenty of tutorials and Mahjong Academy to help you learn. I look for consecutive numbers of the same "suit" if that makes sense.
媽的靠賽遊戲
Developed and published by Formirai Co., Ltd., Riichi City - Japanese Mahjong delivers an engaging digital adaptation of one of Japan's most respected tabletop games while adding a stylish anime-inspired presentation that helps distinguish it from more traditional mahjong clients. Instead of simplifying the mechanics for a casual audience, the game faithfully recreates the rules and strategy of riichi mahjong, making every match a rewarding test of planning, observation, and calculated risk. At the same time, its vibrant visuals, memorable character roster, and polished interface create an inviting atmosphere that appeals to both longtime mahjong players and newcomers curious about the genre. One of the game's standout qualities is how effectively it teaches a notoriously difficult game. Riichi mahjong can be intimidating because of its complex scoring system, numerous winning hand combinations, and strategic depth, yet Riichi City introduces these concepts through comprehensive tutorials, interactive guides, and practical gameplay assistance. Helpful features such as tile recommendations, winning tile indicators, scoring support, replay functions, and detailed match records allow players to steadily improve without feeling overwhelmed. These accessibility tools make the learning process far less frustrating while still encouraging players to understand the underlying mechanics instead of relying solely on automated assistance. Competitive multiplayer serves as the heart of the experience. Players can participate in ranked matches, tournaments, seasonal events, and various online activities against opponents from around the world. Success depends on reading the table, managing risk, adapting to opponents, and making smart decisions rather than simply relying on luck. The game also emphasizes fair matchmaking and balanced competition, ensuring that cosmetic purchases do not provide gameplay advantages. Frequent events and ongoing progression systems encourage players to continue refining their skills while offering new rewards and reasons to return regularly. Presentation adds another layer of appeal beyond the traditional mahjong formula. The anime-inspired art style gives each character a distinct personality through detailed illustrations, expressive animations, and professional voice performances that make matches feel energetic and entertaining. Unlockable cosmetics and character customization provide additional long-term goals for dedicated players who enjoy collecting new appearances. While these visual elements modernize the experience, they never distract from the core gameplay, which remains focused on authentic riichi mahjong strategy. However, players seeking a purely classic or minimalist presentation may find the flashy effects and collectible character system less appealing than a more traditional digital implementation. Despite its many strengths, Riichi City is not without limitations. As a free-to-play title, it naturally includes monetization centered around cosmetic content and character collection, which may not appeal to every player even though these purchases do not affect competitive balance. Additionally, no amount of tutorial support can completely eliminate the complexity of riichi mahjong itself. Players willing to dedicate time to learning its many rules and strategies will find an incredibly rewarding experience, but those looking for immediate, casual entertainment may discover that mastering the game requires patience and consistent practice. Riichi City - Japanese Mahjong succeeds by respecting the traditions of classic riichi mahjong while making the game more welcoming through thoughtful learning tools and an attractive modern presentation. Its blend of authentic gameplay, competitive online features, polished visuals, active multiplayer community, and continuous seasonal content creates a package that appeals to both beginners and experienced players. Although its anime aesthetic and free-to-play progression may not suit everyone's preferences, the quality of the underlying gameplay shines through, making it one of the stronger digital versions of Japanese mahjong currently available. Ecchi mahjong
I have been playing RC and soul for about 10 hrs each and as a new player to mahjong/Riichi entirely. i feel like RC has way more features for new players (AI review, Duolingo for mahjong, etc..) and makes learning and keeping track of your hand easier. i plan to switch between both but will spend more time learning on RC.
