The game is really detailed when is comes to being as real as they can get, although i will mention, apart from training your horses and entering shows, which takes time and can get quite frustrating at times, there is not much else to do. there is only 4 competitions so once you have finishes all 4...there is really nothing else. I like how there is not only one thing you can do since i know a few similar games that only have show jumping and cross country and they leave it at that but this game has Dressage: Probably one of my most favourite ones in the game since it is challenging but really cool when you see all the moves and that you can do. Show jumping: It takes quite long to train for comps in SJ and it can get annoying, and the training is always harder than the actual competition and i wish you got more out of one training course and have to repeat over and over again. (Other Controls: W,S Speed Left and right arrow keys for direction, these controls are not suitable for dressage!!) Cross Country:...this by far is the one i hate most, due to the frustration every time your horse refuses having to go back over the jump. I am just naturally bad at the cross country in the game so don't let it turn you away. The good thing about the comps for cross country is that you have two courses which are the same to the ones you did in training, the first one, then the second is just backwards to the first. I have also seen a lot of people say the controls are really weird, i don't agree with them, if you don't have any experience with gaming and find the controls difficult maybe just do the tutorial a couple of times to make sure that you are understanding before blaming the game. This game is anyway a good game, you also have to understand that NO game is perfect and that if you get THAT annoyed that you have to complain...Simple. Just don't play it, there are plenty of people that do enjoy it.
Awesome!
I'm not so sure about this game. First of all the controls are, strange. The controls are VERY hard to handle. I also thought it was a remake of Mary King's riding star. But nope, all sad now, and the dressage is very hard to do. But I wish they could fix the controls and all that stuff. Other than that I found this game really fun, I hope it gets the support it deserves. Although it's not the good old Mary King's riding star, it's still it's own thing that deserves support to. I still really like this game, I like horses so any good horse game ill buy. xd Please do not buy unless you really love horses like me, because you mostly not like it.
So... on the whole, I would say I like this game, a few weird graphic issues that don't make sense. Once you take the time to learn how to steady your mouse, you can actually use your left and right arrow keys to steer which makes it far easier, but still a bit complicated on the whole. My biggest problem is: After uninstalling and reinstalling this game... CROSS COUNTRY JUST WON'T WORK! At first it would just completely freeze up on me and I'd have to force my way out of the game in order to shut it down and restart it. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it... well... I was at least able to start the cross country part of it, but it gets so freaking laggy that there's practically no point as it screws up with the competitions so you're getting disqualified for your horse refusing too many jumps! The show jumping and dressage work fine for me (though dressage is the hardest for sure when it comes to controls.) If the cross country wouldn't lag on me all the time, I would actually recommend this game, but because of that, I just can't.
I am testing this for my niece. So far it is REALLY hard because of the hyper sensitive mouse movements. The slightest movement of the mouse throws the horse WAY off course and makes it almost impossible to control unless you can hold your hand perfectly still. I can barely manage this and my 9 year old niecw will find it terribly frustrating. There are also no indicators of when to jump and if you angle is right. It can be gradually learned, yes but a child will become frustrted with the constant failures with no reason. Needs lots of work in the tutorials and learning curve.
I'm actually really enjoying this game, but that's coming from someone who is a sucker for crappy horse games. I believe to play this you need to be a horse fan that isn't too serious about gaming since there's no story line and it is very simple. I find the controls...interesting, but its not as hard as other reviews have claimed. Only took me about an hour to master. Pros: - Good graphics (considering the type of game it is) - Cheap - Awesome showjumping courses and jump designs - Realistic dressage gaits - Relaxing 'Ride out' option - Easy to go at your own pace - Good horse designs Cons: - Lack of horse choices - Not challenging enough - Repetitive - Unrealistic cross country courses
The 3D is from another age. It's really ridiculous.
This is a great game! Even though the game itself is old, like over ten years old, the riding style from both jumping and dressage horses comes from real-life training and experiences. I don't find many horse games with this level of experience, and the sunset graphics are very beautiful. Like every dressage or jumping rider in the real world, it does take time to get used to the dressage moves or the jumping course, and it's not handed to you so easily, and I like that! I enjoy the game even though it's older and it runs well on my laptop
