Rexodus: A VR Story Experience is based on the Dark Horse Graphic Novel Rexodus. This is a VR narrative experience set in a universe where dinosaurs didn't go extinct, they left Earth. Those dinosaurs, utilizing their own advanced technology, are traversing the galaxy.

It's a nice free experience, so it gets thumbs up. But there's one serious problem, there's something wrong with tracking on Vive. It feels floaty (which also means almost no real presence) and if you look around it can make you dizzy. Also, resolution looks quite low. Otherwise, very promising. Great characters and scale.
Graphics are nice, I like the setting, but head tracking (HTC VIVE) is a total mess. Visuals do not precisely reflect the head movement and this is not a hardware tracking issue. When close to border of play area, Chaperone is visible and reacts correctly to the movement. One can clearly see that the game graphics move different than Chaperone. Same can be tested with Steam menu overlay. This is the first VR experience where I feel dizziness by looking around. Frame rate is fine (Core I7 3770K, GTX980). Also it looks that the translation/scaling of movement is not ok, means the movement distance in reality is differnt from what is shown in VR. I would definetely not demo this experience in the current state. Hope this gets improved.

It has a lot of potential, but it has no real purpose. I guess the iea is to draw you in to the world of Rexodus, and make you want to buy the Graphic Novel. However, it doesn't even do that very well. You meet a few characters, all while welded to the spot and by "meet", you get to see them and learn their name. That's it. There's nothing about the characters beyond that. I get it to point... They don't want to give too much away about the graphic novel. But they could have at least had a few very basic "history" lessons to help flesh out the experience. As for the experience itself, it's incredibly short. The "Warping" mechanic (which is controlled by a script) feels a little nauseating (though I have to admit, maybe that's how warping really would feel ;) ), and there's no interactivity at all, beyond looking around. I would have expected at least a "press A to warp" or something. As it stands, you're just there watching a fancy 3D movie, for all of 5 minutes. I am a fan of the graphic novel myself, and I know the writers of Rexodus can do a whole lot better than this, especially considering that this is really aimed at someone to get them hooked. It just doesn't do that. Their Rexodus web portal does a better job, and that's just a real shame.

Short, but sweet. If you haven't already, give it a spin! I sure hope this is a good indicator of what this studio will bring to the medium going forward, as it was an excellent experience. I'd go into details, but I fear spoiling it. No need to bring snacks, though. It's short.
I hate giving a free game a negative review, however this game has some serious issues which need to be resolved. Firstly the game appears to have some sort of tracking issue where real world movement doesnt precisely track to in game movement. I have never seen this on any other Vive game. The issue appears to be game world related as opposed to a soft of tracking issue because the chaperone area is tracking precisely, and when you are near the edge of the chaperone space you can confirm that the game moves in relationship to the chaperone bounds. Very strange and unfortunately (very mildly) nausia inducing. The second issue (less serious) - the game does not use the information from the Vive setup to configure the game world, meaning that when you start the game it does not center the game within your game world. Instead it centres the world on your current HMD location. This means that parts of the game world may be outsie you play area, and the floor hight can be way off. This one at least is easy to work around - only start the game whilst wearing the HMD in the middle of your play area, and either standing (if you want to play standing) or seated if you want to play seated. In addition the game keeps switching SteamVR into extended mode and I have to switch it back to enable direct mode after play if I want to play anything else. The final and most serious issue is a black vertical line which appears on the right lens and only the right lens. Its only a single pixel wide, but its very very annoying. I didnt make it very far into the game. The above issues, in particular the black line on the right lens were just too annoying.
Nice little free experience. A lot of people are complaining about the lack of content, but it's just a free demo. The quality of the art and animation is better than the vast majority of paid VR experiences. I'd like to see what the studio could do with more time and a bigger budget.
Nice experience that drops you into the Rexodus Comic Book world. Its a narrative experience with no interaction during the VR movie, but you can read a couple of pages of the comic in the main menu. The short movie lasts ~6min it looks pretty nice (although somewhat blurry) and performs excellently. Recommended because its Good for at least one run, it really doesnt offer much, as it really is a promo for a comic book (which i have to say i googled afterwards, so i guess it worked!) But its FREE and it works as intended.
Rexodus: A VR Story Experience is a free VR experience that is short. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Teaser for a Comic book series from Dark Horse Comics. Use gaze control only. CONS: Does Not work on Quest 3 via Steam Link, it crashes to desktop with error. Try it and delete it.
