Only played a tiny bit so far but I can already tell this is a hidden gem.
Super fun game to burn some time! Loved playing with my dad/cousin on vacation.
Great, fun game. My only gripe is the roguelike elements. I'd much rather retry a stage when I die without losing any progress instead of having to start all over. Even with the opportunity to teleport back to the stage you were on, you're still losing the chance to gain upgrades along the way. But anyway, that's my gripe against all roguelikes, so I can't hold it against this dev, and overall I loved my time with this game.
It's fun, but a bit difficult to progress
PERFECT for the Steam Deck
Let me start by saying that this game, being a rogue-like twin stick shooter, is PERFECT on the Steam Deck. The best thing about the Steam Deck is that you can pick it up, play for a short bit, and suspend it to come back to later. But for that short stretch you're playing, you want that fun, that challenge, and just positive energy and release from having played it. And this game does all that. It's the game I keep coming back to when I want to play something for a short 10, 15 or even 30 minute stretch, while I take a break from a long and intense task. Let's start with the how it looks and feels on the Steam Deck. The sprites and characters and text are correctly proportioned, and I don't feel like I'm squinting to make anything out. The game uses joypad controls of the steam deck. You don't need the thumb pads or anything like it. Next, let's talk about the gameplay, which is what it's all about. You can play one of two characters, the bride and the groom. The bride uses a shotgun weapon, while the groom uses a more traditional stream like bullets that you'd expect from a twin stick shooter. If you're playing on PC a friend can pick up another controller and play with you as the other character, or you can remote play together. The game is hard as grapes to get to the end on your own, so when I've gotten serious about beating this game, I've played with friends. In fact, it was a friend who introduced me to this game. Anyways, back to the game play. This rogue-like game involves this crazy mix of strategy, hand eye coordination skill, and luck. And again, this combination is perfect for that 10-30-60 minute break. So you have the basic shoot them up element of any twin stick shooter. But you get an additional weapon, a mine turret that ends up being a major side kick and element of the strategy you develop on the fly as you enter a randomly selected room and experienced a random order of enemies that come at you. All the while you're trying to pick up minerals so you an earn power ups in addition to the ones that you get from leveling up from earning experience points. And there's so much strategy involved in that card game too, where you have to strategically use your peaking ability to find pairs of cards that will give you super power up powers. Again, it all comes together to give that strategic, twitchy adrenaline rush that's perfect for my breaks. And last, the charm of the bride and the groom as characters and the pun filled interludes in all the action are funny and uplifting. It's cheesy (or fruity) as bananas and so wholesome, haha. The characters, the theme, and the quest almost feels like a love letter in the form of a game.
Ratings: Dito: 3/5 Chat: 2.78/5 Gesamt: 2.89/5
