TLDR: RE9 is a Great Game with a stupid story... if you are A big fan of the OG games wait for a big sale. this is A Love and hate game for me. I'm super mixed on it because this game is as stupid as RE6. What I always enjoyed about the OG Resident Evil games was despite the insanity of the world it felt like the real world. Something like Silent Hill was a lot more paranormal, yes a zombie virus is scince fantasy ... but there was A root of reality... then RE4 came .... A beloved game that takes all the reality and throws it into a wood chipper... that led us to 5 Africa... and 6 that made Leon a John Woo movie action hero with the tactical dives and dual pistols... at that point the flavor I craved for the series was gone... well revelation was a decent atempt at reliving the B movie horror vibes that the orginal was based on ... 7 gave us that feeling back. 8 was a mixed bag with A lot of good. Re4 remake is a solid remake of An action game starring Leon... Resident evil 9 is fanservice and 1/4 the kind of game I wanted... even if the blood crafting machanic was stupid.... nothing kills a spooky atmosphere like having enemies drop things you can use. Don't get me wrong the weapon handling and character movement is great. the game is well made. the pc port was a bit of a mess no resolution slider is a miss. you should beable to set the render scale somewhere between 50-140% of the resolution of the monitor... like the other RE games on PC. second the mouse aim felt soo off from the start I played the game on controller instead of messing with the mouse control. If you want to play on linux the RT control on AMD cards requires the usual start up comand to enable. Steam asks if i reccomend this game. I do and I don't this game is a mix of spooky , and RE4.... Leon is an Action Movie hero again. personally I hate this mix. but maybe I'm a jaded fan and capcom dosen't care about this Uncle anymore. Who ever said RE7 was too Spooky I will never forgive you... like what is the point of A survival horror game where there is none of either theme in a section... the first Resident Evil feels like you are fighting for your survival hording ammo running from fights trying to figure out what you have to do... well Graces section has the feeling.. that felling goes away the moment you can use blood to make healing and bullets, and the magic gooo, There are good ideas in this game zombies with some of thier past lives in them still, After Grace's section is over and leon takes the charge the game becomes fine but not even remotly spooky... the dead city vibes in Raccoon City were solid... but there was nothing shocking or scary Leon is fully armed and can parry basicly anything... then they dangle Iconic locations infront of you and try to remind you of the good old games... Leon section Ruin's this game's vibes.. they just Made Resident Evil 4 again.... but back in Raccoon city's remains....
