I don't usually like to review games still in early access but it's been 5 years and I don't see things getting any better from here. In fact they've gotten objectively worse. At one point you were able to create and upgrade your own puzzles. That has since been removed. You were also able to play singleplayer offline matches. That has also been removed. Now you're stuck waiting in a queue for the 2 or 3 other people who play this game. I really don't want to give this a negative review, this had so much potential, but it's been 5 years and they've only removed features. I will gladly reverse my recommendation if they at least bring back the ability to play offline by yourself. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2713888716
Warning: Microtransaction infested mobile app! This game is infested with a toxic mobile app style cash shop. You will be prompted to and expected to give money to the developers through this cash shop to buy in-game goods so you can play the game.
Relik is one of thousands of nasty mobile apps infesting the "free" section of Steam, but it's not really free. There's only a superficial "game" here. I will preface this with a note that the developers abandoned this before it could get approved for the mobile app stores, but the game was clearly intended for iPhones and Android (hence the cash shop). The developers were trying to make a player-versus-player puzzle strategy game where competitors solve puzzles against each other. Gameplay involves head-to-head matches focused on completing these challenges. It offers a basic competitive puzzle experience. But the players never stuck around and the developers apparently discovered gamers on Steam aren't mobile peasants that will throw money at them in the cash shop. So really, the mobile app "game" is just a veneer, a thin skin wrapped around a nasty, predatory mobile app cash shop. Thus, the true purpose of this mobile app is to get you to hand your credit card details to the greedy mobile devs so you can buy stuff in the nasty cash shop... it shouldn't be considered a real game because it's a mobile app cash harvester, and has no place in your game library. Putting that toxic mobile app monetisation aside... this is a mobile app. I didn't spend thousands on a gaming PC so I could pretend it's an iPhone, and I don't think you did either... this kind of mobile app has no place in your Steam library. The developers abandoned this 8 years and 4 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. Despite not being able to finish the game, the developers apparently had all the time in the world to build a working cash shop microtransaction system and financial transaction back end into the game. That shows the developers primary goal was just to set out to gouge cash from Steam gamers just like mobile devs do with mobile peasants. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. It's important to note that, despite this being such a low quality product, there's a number of positive reviews that all appeared immediately after the game launched, from suspiciously inactive Steam accounts that have reviewed almost no other games apart from this. Take the review score of this game with a grain of salt. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
Haven't play in a long time... no longer seems to let me play on my own. Was great when I could. Removing now.
