Multiplayer only and appears to have no Singleplayer mode. Tried to find a match but then saw on SteamDB no one was even playing it so i was never going to find a match. Maybe it gets a player base later down the line who knows.
Relic is great to play in your off time. It is also a very short game. It doesn't seem to be designed to play for hours and hours, just a minute at a time for a "quick fix" of treasure hunting. There is a single-player mode and a multi-player mode and a guide on how to play in game which was helpful. The multi-player seems to be designed around playing with people you already know, though, as the queuing system seems a little broken. But you get tons of bonuses if you play with at least one other person, and you can get some pretty cool and cute stuff for your character. I got a friend to play with me - it was pretty fun to keep leveling up and keep gaining stats to get better and better at treasure hunting. I think it could improve with a few more updates and a bigger user base. Overall, it's fun to play, and a little addictive (I gotta get that last treasure... gotta get to the next place...), in short bursts and with a friend or two.

Simple, and a good source for a quick dopamine rush. Not bad for a free game. Can't complain.
Ahoy, ye landlubbers and sea dogs alike! Captain Jack Rottenbones Skyshaker here, and let me tell ye a tale ye won’t soon forget! A tale ‘bout Relic, the greatest treasure huntin’ adventure I’ve ever laid me one good eye upon. Gather ‘round and listen close, for the wind speaks of adventure, fortune, and glory like ye’ve never known! When first I set sail upon the Island o' Relic, the spirits called t’ me and offered me a mighty beast—a llama, of all creatures! A fine, sturdy beast who could scale mountains, wade through rivers, and even dance a merry jig when the moon was high. Me loyal llama, Pigglywiggly, became me steed and partner in treasure huntin’, and oh, the grand journeys we went on! Ah, the grasslands were a sea of emerald green, as far as the eye could see. The winds whispered secrets of lost treasures, and me llama galloped like the fiercest stallion. It was there I faced fierce competition from me fellow pirates. We raced through the tall grasses, diggin’ faster than a rabbit chasin’ its tail. But Captain Rottenbones came out victorious, and when the dust settled, I stood tall with a treasure chest in my hands so heavy, it took all me strength t’ hoist it aboard. Me llama, Pigglywiggly, gave a victorious snort, and we danced a merry jig to celebrate our triumph! Arrr, the beaches of Relic be a place where sun and sea meet, glitterin’ like gold itself. The treasure there was buried deep beneath the white sands, guarded by the spirits o’ the sea. I dove into the crystal-clear waters, me boots filling with sand, and wrestled the tides to claim the relics hidden below. And let me tell ye, nothin’ be quite like the joy o’ digging up and exposing a full and beautiful chest full of pearls to lay my hand upon and make my own, as Pigglywiggly pranced happily, kickin’ up waves of water. T’was a paradise of treasure-huntin’ fit for the likes of the most daring buccaneer! Me next adventure took me deep into the underwater caves, where only the brave dare go. With Pigglywiggly magically swimmin' like a great sea serpent through the tight and wet passageways of the water cave, we plunged into the abyss, searchin' for relics amongst the coral reefs and sunken ships of yore. The caverns echoed with the songs of mermaids and the clatter of long-lost pirate bones. But no beast nor curse could stop me from going deeper for the treasure I be longin’ for! Me llama and I claimed the rarest treasure of all—an ancient relic that glowed with a light so bright it could be seen from the stars! Oh, how we laughed and celebrated our conquest as we pulled back out the way we came and swam up to the surface, victorious! Aye, me final adventure took me to the very skies! I soared higher than a gull on the wind, leaping from cloud to cloud as if they pillows of joy in ye sky, guided by the stars and me llama's unshakable hooves. The air was sweet as rum served form a milk maid with the finest offerings, and treasure sparkled like the teeth of a siren’s grin. Up there, we battled the winds and fierce sky-pirates who tried t’ claim the relics for themselves! But with Pigglywiggly as me steed, I danced across the clouds and found the shimmering chest filled with gold, rare gems, and even more pearls! I can never get me fill o’ such a wondrous full, overflowing and adorned chest. But mates, the most fun of all was the camaraderie! Me and me fellow pirate crew, we’d race across the islands, diggin’ and lootin’ like mad! There be friendly competition at every turn—whether twas sailin' through the clouds or racing t’ find the best treasure on the beach. I’d spot another pirate claimin’ a treasure and with a hearty laugh, challenge ‘em t’ a dance-off! Yes, ye heard me right—a dance-off! And me Pigglywiggly, the best dancer on the island, always stole the show. Aye, we’d laugh and cheer, for there be no finer crew t’ sail with than me treasure-huntin’ comrades. And what’s this ye say about the llama? Har har har, Pigglywiggly be no ordinary steed! With the speed o’ a fox and the strength of a mountain bear, me llama galloped across the land and skies, and even swam with the grace of a fish in those underwater caverns. The bond between captain and llama runs deep, and together, we conquered the Island o’ Relic like true legends. Ye can pick any beast or dinosaur ye fancy t’ ride an’ make yer own steed, but me llama’ll outrun the lot o’ ye, har har har! So if ye seek a treasure-filled adventure, where ye can dig for gold, ride mighty spirit animals, and challenge yer pirate mates t' friendly games, then Relic be the finest game this side of the seven seas. Mark me words, mates—ye won’t find a better quest fer loot, treasure, and adventure. Now, if ye’ll excuse me, I’ve got another relic t’ find and a llama ready for one more dance beneath the stars! Arrr! Signed, Captain Jack Rottenbones Skyshaker 🏴☠️
Warning: Third Party Account This game requires you to create a third party "Relic Game Server" account... there's no valid reason for this in a PC game when SteamWorks is available. This is often done to harvest private data and profile you, with potential sale and transmission of your private data to third parties. The developers will probably argue that you can trust them, but if they were trustworthy they wouldn't demand you create a third party account. This represents a considerable risk to gamers due to the privacy and security implications of developers that wish to bypass Steam and harvest user data. Remember, sometimes if the product is free, YOU are the product.

Note: Dead multiplayer game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There's no players, no populated servers. This multiplayer-only game cannot be played as intended.
This is a weird Unity kitbashed Pokemon/Digimon ripoff of deplorably low quality, apparently unfinished, definitely abandoned. It looks and plays like a mobile app store reject, but mobile apps tend to be better polished... there's a bunch of "stock" Unity interfaces and things stapled together in a barely-working fashion. It's unclear why anything this undercooked would get published on Steam Direct, but I guess $100 isn't enough of a price barrier to stop the flood of garbage on the store. Garbage like "Relic". So, "Relic" is a dead multiplayer game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! The chief cause of failure is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst multiplayer centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. Despite not being in Early Access, it's obvious this is an incomplete product. Developers have an obligation to deliver complete, not partially done products to gamers, that shouldn't be controversial. Whatever the excuses may be, it does no service to gamers for incomplete products polluting Steam like this. It makes it harder for gamers to find complete games, and it makes it harder for ethical developers who do the right thing to find their audience. Even though the game looks pretty bad (and decent visuals are a minimum requirement for any game), it looks like some or most of the game assets are stock/flipped assets. I mean, if you're going to shove an asset flip onto Steam, you might as well rip off/plagiarise decent assets. This is like going on a bank heist and stealing a pen and some loose change, or going shoplifting and just stealing a box of store brand toothpicks. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. All other issues aside (any of which would disqualify this from being worth your time), this is a game that relies on other players for it to be viable, and because there's not enough players, it's not viable. I can't recommend anyone downloads this, it's basically dead.

Great game! There's plenty of customization options and different types of treasures to look for. Multiplayer is a lot of fun! If you want to play something simple and entertaining, this is the game for you :)
