Reflex is a competitive Arena FPS that combines modern tech with the speed, precision and freedom of a 90s shooter. If you sunk countless hours into the Quake or Unreal series, Reflex will feel like a welcome return of the old school shooter feel.

its free now!!! Basically, it's like Quake 3 CPMA. Amazing game with insane skill ceiling and imo winning in this game is proof of the absolute best of the best FPS players. Not a lot of players *always* playing but you can get matches any time if you ask. Nice community and you get to be friends with a lot of players since you see the same people a lot. It is an extremely rewarding game to learn if you can persevere and be ok with sucking for a long time. Though you definitely get gatekept by stuff like mechanics and map knowledge at first, you soon get to a point where you are 50-0'ing new players and recognizing what to do, what's right and wrong. But then you are left wondering how the best players are beating you, because they seem to turn every decision you make into the wrong one. You start to build instinct or unconscious competence to a point where you start to surprise yourself with your own potential and gameplay. But. It is so unbelievably difficult to get really good at, and to also keep your mental intact along the way. I think I've only seen around 10% of players NOT crash out over this game. It really forces you to confront yourself in a very deep and uncomfortable way if you commit to getting better. This game is sick af though check it out it is so much fun

I heard Reflex Arena became F2P and everyone and their mother decided to hop on the train. Here's my honest 2 cent review. It's a great game I admit although there are some part that I do not like within Reflex Arena. First of all, let's talk about the good things on it. Hit feels great, LG in this game is amazing almost on par or MAYBE even better in Quake Live. Sounds is alright and gameplay almost feels like Quake Live. There are unique gamemodes on here. 2v2 Duel? Oh my god, never heard of that. The fact that you can choose custom maps like even MGE Spire in TF2 or Aerowalk but its wide in X axis. These are if not good things about this games. Now let's talk about bad things on this. It's Quake. Without autohop. It's not unique, just play Quake Live it's almost the same. It prioritizes refinement over innovation, which may feel unoriginal to some players like me. The movement, it feels too slippery. Mirroring/Anti Mirroring feels weird due to this. Let's go to most popular AFPS games. Comparison to other AFPS games: Let's talk about Quake Live often considered the gold standard for competitive AFPS. When you think of perfection in AFPS games, Quake Live would be there. Xonotic, probably one of the most unique AFPS game I've seen. Unique weapon that you can think of. Change the direction of rocket to clear angles, clean out chokepoints via Electro that acts as a landmine. Combining both fluidity of movements and uniqueness of each weapon. Warfork, the fastest movement with dashes and can even walljump or use it to change direction. Even with the same loadout as Quake, it's uniqueness on movement makes it great. Especially if you play Clan Arena. UT2K4, similar towards Xonotic, has alt fire modes for every weapon. Create chains of combos or being versatile. Within these games there's that uniqueness that turn Quake Live into more unique like what if Quake Live but you can move faster and dash or Quake Live but you can chains combos or Quake Live but the weapons are unique. Reflex Arena doesn't have those. Even though with that, the main takeaway is Reflex Arena wasn't focusing to create a new innovative or creative way to play Quake Live or AFPS game. When I see an AFPS game, I would think, what is the difference between QL and this game. Reflex Arena isn’t trying to reinvent AFPS it’s trying to perfect it. It's not a creative innovation of "what if what if" This is MY HONEST take on the game. I love that it try to revive the genre. Although, it doesnt have uniqueness, it's a great game. I would probably play this more than Quake Live.
This game should have been F2P from its release. It's great that you can get it for free now, but you can't really play it, since hardly anyone is playing it.
It became free-to-play now, what Quake Live should've remained to be when it first came to Steam (originally my first exposure to it), and hoping this one also stays to become F2P forever. Get it NOW. It'll run well on any 2010's potato, it will run consistently nice on the highest settings on any 2020's entry-level rig. No frills, runs clean out of the box like Warfork, gameplay feels like any Quake game, looks tastefully nicer than [strike]Quake Champions[/strike] Quake 3 Arena RTX Remix Mod. Go out there and get some freakin' frags. P.S. THERE IS NO AUTOHOP WHEN HOLDING SPACE!!! (quite a bummer) If you're good at bhopping in CS, and you can scrollhop, enter the console and do: addbind mousewheelup +jump
Wow, so fun playing against aimbots that one-shot you and move like their lives depend on the match. I’d honestly recommend the developer never make anything like this again — the bots are awful. I don’t understand how something like this could ever be a paid game. Just free trash getting hyped up by bots that boosted this piece of garbage in the reviews.
Game keeps crashing when starting a match in my hosted server
Played this game in 2018 for 8 minutes. Best 8 minutes of my life.
One of the best indie arena shooters I've played. Also recommend watching the film adaptation 'eHero'.
Quake veterans will love this game due to its mobility.(CPMA) The Map editor is superb. This is currently the best AFPS and its going free to play. the developer has returned from his slumber and is actively updating the beta client. Please return to this game and join the steam group.
It's a decent arena shooter but weak competitor to Quake Live and others in the genre with little to differentiate itself aside from the nice distinct art direction. I'd recommend it, but the only real reasons to play this is the novelty or it's newly acquired F2P status.
