Following up [i]Grimm's Hollow[/i] and [i]A Date with Death[/i], we come back to another game in my library that allows me to toy with my teenage reaper OC phase I had while everyone else was romancing vampires. (I mean, vampires are pretty awesome too, but this is pretty eerie... Reaper MC looks straight out of what I envisioned for myself back in my Deviant Art days, and looks mostly like how I design myself in most character customization games... this feels like a personal attack ---) But uhh, with the game itself? I liked the mystery. As with most games in the genre, certain things by certain points felt obvious, but you haven't exactly tied everything together by the end, so you're still left guessing quite a bit. I liked the characters well enough. I did hope for a happier resolution by the end, but I can't say I'm dissatisfied at all - reapers do what reapers must. Not much interactivity beyond being able to review clues and choosing which areas to investigate in what order in a room. However, as this seems to have been made as a freebie for a Halloween game jam, I can't say we could have reasonably expected much more in that department. I thought the story was heading towards [spoiler]a twist where the protagonist was actually the murderer, as the doppelganger got too stuck in the reaper's mind after taking over her body and forgot what had happened,[/spoiler] and the actual ending was a bit less interesting. Still a fun little hour-long mystery with a polished presentation and a premise that would work well for an ongoing episodic series.

Droll droning dross. I wanted to appreciate the effort, but there's just too much... effort.

fun little narrative with great characters! i think it can feel a little too wordy in the first half between the narration and some of the asides that the characters and grea have, but the pacing felt tighter once the investigation part came in. a faithful recreation of how it feels to watch/read a weekly whodunnit show. i also love how blocky the skeletons look in this game. they are so beautiful

Nice short mystery game. Visually it's not very gory thanks to the stylised artwork, but the text is a bit gruesome in places. The solution was satisfying when revealed. The only thing I didn't like was the achievement for reading it in under 10 minutes. Pointless because it would be impossible to take in the story in less than 10 minutes, and I couldn't see a skip button, so it seems to be just an achievement for clicking through the whole story a second time once you've finished it. I don't know, maybe there's a skip button and I couldn't find it... otherwise it's quite astounding that 49.6% of players apparently bothered to get the achievement!
