Addicting play loop with a lot of charm. The art style is fun and each world feels unique!
Good Game
One of the best Rogue-likes I've played. Highly recommended especially for the price! very well made game.
Honestly, I'm not much for games like these. Run and gun has never been my strong suit, but when I tried this game I found it a lot easier to grasp onto. There are one or two improvements that could be made, notably an examine button (rip my jar of bees) that could inform the player on what effect a weapon in the shop has before buying it, and an upgrade system perhaps in the future. As far as I'm aware after 2 runs or so, the moneygun is the only gun with substantial or noticible scaling and it very quickly gets out of control (final boss in 5 volleys and that's with me playing sub-optimally), and since it can carry between runs it becomes a pretty hefty crutch. I'm only a little into it so it'll require more looking into, so I might be off on my nitpick here. None of that takes away from a very solid core experience though. The enemies are interestingly designed and unique enough to where a player will quickly be able to identify which ones they need to prioritize downing, the gameplay loop is compelling enough to warrant multiple playthroughs while being simple enough to not need an over-analysis to get yourself invested, the letters and weapons have more than enough variety to make no run identical unless you go out of your way to make it so (ala money-gun). This game is a fantastic foundation upon which greatness could be built, but still stands on its own as a good game to get some quick runs in or to speedrun. PROS: + Gameplay loop is gratifying, carry-over allows for players to plan out future runs + Enemies are unique and dangerous! Bosses feel fitting for their given worlds and locations + Weapons feel responsive yet realistic, moving creates some variance in spread, different weapons are better at different ranges + Very prime for speedrunning, game is quick and allows for quick resetting and optimization + Easy for beginners to grasp, but roll invulnerability and other mechanics and weapon effects provide depth to play + Fantastic foundation with lots of room for growth + Accessibility options help open the door to players who may struggle with the aim functionality CONS: - Money gun kinda OP (only affects runs where you use it though) - Being a foundation comes with being a little barebones. Every room is just a square from what I've seen so far, nothing wrong with that but leaves one a little wanting. - Some enemies aren't super clear on the counterplay. Face huggers need to be rolled off, but there's no real indication so newer folks might end up getting eaten alive by one, for example. A beastiary could be helpful!
short but a fun time :3 worth the 5 bucks imo
