Structurally, it's a very simple 2D leaderboard chaser, the main gimmick in question is that here you're literally chasing the leaderboard vertically, dodging various triangular projectiles. To progress, you are required to move up and down with the mouse click to time movements between the obstacles, which tend to vary in speed from the various shooting objects along the way. This ultimately grants a level of randomness to the proceedings, and it's not uncommon to get caught out by a fast moving projectile when you think there's a clear path. I would recommend going into it knowing that it is very simple, there's no diversity to projectiles or additional mechanics. This can quickly make the game less appealing, as you restart each time and there's no real 'barrier' to progression, other then timing mouse clicks, and once you have that down with the current low player base it is easy to get into top #50 without much effort at all. The game will definitely benefit from quality of life treatment if the developers consider doing so, diversity of projectile types which work with unique mechanics would be a marked improvement. A separate leaderboard feature to properly measure ones progress would also help continue motivating players to return and break records, especially if it was possible to replay a run. I am only bringing up these suggestions as I come from playing Devil Daggers, a $5 3D FPS leaderboard chaser with fluid movement mechanics, in-game leaderboard with replay features and very complex enemy types and gameplay mechanics. If you're comparing that to this, it's hard to not feel like more could be done to give it longevity and replayability. Players typically want to have a metric of their success, and to some extent 'bragging rights'. As there's no real way to measure your metric except against knowing the top player score, and that there's no deviation from a continuous bullethell with a single unchanging projectile type that varies only in speed, it makes it hard to recommend in its current state. If the developers wish to develop this further, I'd definitely be keen to see what can be done to refine the formula into a nice indie gem. Such as it is though, it plays as a proof of concept, and needs further development to really draw in an audience. I would gladly recommend it if it gets to such a point.
I really like this game the concept and the music are cool but the frequent frame drops made it unplayable. Reeeefund.
Good game. Would buy again for 99 cents. I support 2D developers because I'm a game dev myself.
Pretty cool, I really like the idea behind it. There's a lot you could do with this. Had fun, got around 550 or so points. The highscore boards are feeling kinda lonely :( Music is quite good and graphics are suitable. I wish there was more variety as you go further up, or maybe there is but I didnt see it. There were some different shooting patterns but nothing too different. The overall idea is good however. Fun game :)
Fun and addictive!
Simple and addictive game. Though can be quite frustrating when I keep dying at the start.
Good game. Addictive and has great soundtrack!
Elegant in its simplicity, this game is great for a quick bit of fun. Also, come at me, you'll find me at #35 (at time of writing)
Got 5 minutes to kill? just closed reddit, opened it again and thought why did i do that? play rank runner this game is the perfect way to waste time if you are struggling to think of a way to kill 5 minutes it is a bullet hell you can only move forwards and backwards and you gotta try and get as far across the endless field I purchased this game on a whim cos i thought boy this is cheap and honestly the rank this is pretty cool and kinda unique its such a simple game, all you do is click ur mouse, and u dodge red arrows how hard can it really be? give it a go i cant recommend this enough to anyone who wants to play it casual or competitive
